Finland-based world leader in mobile phone Nokia not only has to take care of its GSM products, it continues to look for new markets and keep its presence alive in smaller markets. With a view to strengthening its presence in CMDA markets, Nokia goes out on a limb to expand its CDMA line with a trio of entry level mobile phones aimed at the growing mobile phone needs of the China markets.

One of them is a new slider 3G multimedia feature phone that forms part of its CDMA expansion plans. This is the Nokia 6316s designed for the China telecom’s 3G network and comes in a stainless steel body with three colors to choose from – black, gold and red.

It is positioned as a multimedia handset with practical but powerful modern features in a compact, elegantly designed slider form factor that is pitched to a wider budget-conscious market in countries using CDMA mobile telephone network standards.

Features at a Glance

The China-bound slider features a modest 2.2-inch QVGA TFT LCD screen with the same 16 million color depth common on Nokia handsets. It comes with a 2 megapixel fixed focus camera with basic video recording, SatNav functionality with a built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support and a microSD memory expansion slot for up to 4 GB.

Its multimedia prowess gets supported by a stereo FM receiver and the competent Nokia media players for the popular audio and video file formats and comes with dedicated playback controls on its body.

It gets preloaded with a host of practical apps like a WAP-enabled HTML browser, email client, MSN, trial apps for GPS navigation and stock quotes, China Telecom’s QQ apps and a unique Health Assistant apps meant to manage the stress of daily living. Running on the 3G CDMA network, it also comes with Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2.0 for wireless and wired local data connectivity options, respectively.
