Why compare with us?

Overall

A Vodafone exclusive smartphone that is so small and light you´ll barely believe it. Yet the size isn´t the best thing about it, because while it´s lacking in the weight department, the 6730 Classic is far from lightweight on features. With as much smartphone functionality as many larger (and more expensive) smartphones, the 6730 could prove to be a very smart choice indeed.

Details

We were simply amazed to find out what this thing was capable of. When you first pick it up, you think you´re going to be playing with a basic to mid-level phone, not a decently featured smartphone. That´s not to say the 6730 Classic feels cheap, far from it, but it is just so light that you´re not quite sure what it could possibly achieve. However, it achieves plenty. It´s obviously not going to be able to do all the things you can find on other high-end smartphones (the camera is only 3.2 megapixels, compared to some phones that are starting to hover around 10 megapixels, and the 3G-supported HSDPA high-speed downloads and HSUPA high-speed uploads are obviously not going to be at 7.2mbs as some achieve) but there´s more than enough for the majority of users here.

For example, if you use your phone to check your emails occasionally (say, once a day, rather than once an hour), then you´ll have no qualms with the relatively small screen, and will even be pleasantly surprised by the desktop-like email server on the phone. Obviously if you´re someone who´s going to be checking emails (or surfing the net, or similar) far more regularly, you might want to consider a larger touchscreen device such as the Omnia 2. But even with it´s relatively small screen the 6730 Classic handles the bundled Ovi Maps application more than competently. This free software grants access to a really well designed turn-by-turn pedestrian navigation system, along with other add-ons from Lonely Plant, Wcities and some great 3D terrain view options

Look and design

Simple, understated, and downright better for it. We´ve never been a fan of phones that are too flashy, and it´s a real pleasure to come across something as simple at the 6730 Classic. While we think the white version is the superior of the two, other might prefer the black version to avoid that Apple-like associations that white handsets can attract.

The bold curves, glossy plastic finish and robust design also mean that even though extremely light, the Classic doesn´t feel anything close to cheap in your hands.

Conclusion

A true classic, thanks to its simple design and surprisingly feature-packed insides.
