The Nokia X5-01 handset has made an appearance on Nokia’s Ovi Store, fuelling rumours of an imminent release.
Similar in its squareness to the Motorola Flipout smartphone, the X5-01 sports a 2.36 inch screen. Unlike the Flipout, the screen is not touch-sensitive but the phone does come with a QWERTY keyboard, albeit a slide-down one rather than a flip-out one.

It’s Really Hip to be Square
The Nokia X5-01 measures at 74.3 mm high, 66.4 wide and 16.8 mm thick. While it may not be the type of device you would want to place inside your pocket, this size does allow the device to sport a 2.3 inch display with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution that has a landscape view mode. The screen’s orientation does help a lot with web browsing since portrait view modes tend to squeeze web pages and make them hard to view.
The full QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the mobile phone makes Nokia’s device resemble a micro notebook. The keys are finger friendly due to the extra room and are even more comfortable to use than some message dedicated devices such as the E5.

A Music Genius
Because the target market of the Nokia X5-01 is mostly younger users, the mobile phone is designed to give a deep multimedia experience. Playing video files with the MP4, H.264 or H.263 file extensions and audio files with the WMA, MP3, WAV or eAAC+ file extensions is not a problem on the X5-01. There is also an FM radio so you can keep up with the new tunes hitting the airways. A 3.5 mm connector and a dedicated audio key make it easy to listen to your music whenever you feel like it. To select a random tune, all you have to do is to spin your phone which is definitely a nice touch for the X5-01.
Great Stills Every Time
One of the best features of the Nokia X5-01 is its 5 megapixel camera paired with LED flash. The snapper doubles as a video recorder which is able to take 640 x 480 pixel resolution clips at 15 fps. This is great for YouTube uploads on the go.
