Preview Summary:Orange Atlanta 3

The Orange Atlanta is a basic handset, with a vintage candybar design and alpha-numeric keypad. The small TFT screen won't appeal to everyone, but it's the perfect first-time handset for very young or elderly users. A 1.3MP camera allows you to take basic photographs, and you can even record videos and message them to friends and family.

The music player will play MP3 files through the Atlanta's decent loudspeaker, and there are a range of inbuilt games to keep you entertained. For simple text messaging and phone calls, you really can't go wrong.

Orange Atlanta Preview

The Atlanta is another addition to Orange´s increasing range of phones named after cities. The earlier San Francisco was a fantastic feature filled smartphone that brought Android into the lower price bracket and posed a threat to other mid-range Androids doing the rounds. The Atlanta does not come with a touchscreen like the San Fran and it is a fairly basic handset.

The phone opts for a traditional candybar style with an alpha-numeric keypad and a small TFT screen above it. The phone comes with predictive text input which is great for the messaging options included on this phone. As well as coming with support for SMS the phone also comes with POP3/IMAP4 email support. It is one of the cheapest handsets to come with picture and video messaging as well.

Not only that but the Atlanta allows you to record video through its camera, which has until now been an unheard of feature in this section of the phone market. Video quality is not amazing but you can have plenty of room to store videos with microSD cards, transfer them to your computer or another device, and you can also send them through video messages.

Although the inclusion of video support is a curious one to find on this phone, the camera itself is not particularly spectacular. It is 1.3 megapixels and comes with limited features and no flash, although the picture messaging support is a nice inclusion.

The Atlanta features a music player with support for mp3 files, and the phone has a good loudspeaker for playing music without headphones. The phone comes with some built in games and Orange Downloads which can provide you with some other forms of entertainment. However this is not an entertainment phone and the likelihood of you playing these games on a frequent basis is fairly slim.

The Orange Atlanta is an excellent entry-level phone that is ideal for simple messaging and phone calls. The inclusion of video and picture messaging, and the support for video recording with its camera all serve to make the Atlanta stand out just a little bit more compared to similar phones in the same section of the market.
