The Orange San Francisco is one of the cheapest Android phones on the market, costing less than £100. It brings you the more luxe elements of Google’s mobile operating system, while keeping things affordable.
Cutting back on some less essential hardware (the camera is a 3 megapixel affair for example) has in no way diminished this phone’s appeal however. It comes with 3G and wi-fi, and offers the usual Orange Maps, Orange Wednesdays and Orange App Store for all users.
The San Francisco is one of Orange´s first branded affordable Android handsets. As with most Orange branded phones the San Francisco falls into an agreeable price range while at the same time bringing the more luxurious features of Google´s mobile operating system into the mix. Running on Android 2.1 the San Francisco also features an Orange interface with Orange smartphone features.
At less than £100 it is one of the cheapest Android phones on the market. While featuring a top of the line operating system the San Francisco cuts back costs on hardware features that would usually be found on Android phones. The camera is just a 3 megapixel affair with minimal extras. Despite this the San Francisco still comes with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, features that are usually absent in affordable handsets, and which help to put many of Android´s features to good use.
These include web browsing and email support through POP3/IMAP4, and various online features such as Orange Maps, Orange Wednesdays, App Store and Messenger. Additional connectivity is provided through Bluetooth which allows you to transfer media to and from other devices with ease.
The San Francisco features an excellent media player with great music and video playback support and has 150MB internal storage space for storing media. This can be expanded with up to 32GB worth of microSD cards and a 2GB microSD card is included with the phone. For additional entertainment there is an FM radio available so that you can listen to the latest smash hits on the go.
The Orange San Francisco is one of the cheapest Android phones on the market but the interface has been heavily modified by Orange. Many of Google´s own features that are found on Android have been replaced by their Orange equivalents, but with the same functionality provided you cannot argue about the price.
