In a word or two
The Samsung M2510 is an affordable music-centred mobile phone.
The Design
Available in black, the Samsung M2510 is fun looking as the central music control pad is in a contrasting bright blue and the slide-down keypad is framed in blue. The music theme is apparent in the M2510’s appearance as the blue circular control key beneath the screen resembles the control pad on an iPod.
The 2.2 inch screen displays images and texts clearly, and the keypad which is hidden when the slider phone is closed is easy to use and supports confident typing and dialling. The Samsung M2510 has dedicated music keys only beneath the screen, and is light enough (90g) to comfortably take with you for aural entertainment wherever you go.
Specifications
Like the Samsung M2310, the Samsung M2510 is a music-centred mobile phone. There are fairly basic applications like an organiser and calendar, camera and web browser – but the main attraction is the music player.
You can listen to your music collection out loud through the quality inbuilt speakers, as well as through your own earphones. The Samsung M2510 has an integrated automatic equaliser which enables you to receive the best sound quality for the type of music you are listening to. For extra choice, there is an FM radio with RDS, which displays information from the radio station on your screen, and an FM recording option so you can save your favourite programmes and songs directly to your phone.
The 15MB internal memory can be easily increased to up to 8GB via a memory card, so you should not be restricted in the size of music collection you store on your phone. This allows you to make the most of the music recognition feature on your Samsung M2510 – no matter where you are, if you hear a song you like but are unsure what it’s called, simply record a few seconds and the phone will tell you the name, artist and the album it’s from. With Bluetooth and USB connectivity, transferring downloaded songs from your PC is easy, as is downloading straight from the internet to your phone.
The internet browser on the Samsung M2510 allows you to browse websites and displays pages clearly on the screen. There is support for email as well as text and multimedia messages, so you can contact people quickly and share any photos you take using the inbuilt 1.3-megapixel camera.
Considerations
There is no 3G so connecting to the internet will not be rapid and downloading data may be slow. However, the options to transfer data wirelessly via Bluetooth or through the USB connection help to remedy this.
Verdict
The Samsung M2510 is a music-centred phone and music is what it does best. The design is attractive – as is the price tag – and for a basic mobile with advanced music ability the M2510 is a good choice.
