With stylishly elegant slider body measuring a slim and compact 104 x 49 x 10.9 mm when closed and with a lightweight 97g, it comes in two two-tone color schemes of black on red and black on blue.

As an entry level phone, the S5200 is your basic quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) for international roaming on the 2G network and has the usual class 10 GPRS/EDGE data connectivity for up to 236.8 Kbps speeds on the 2G/2.5G network.

There’s no WiFi but local data connectivity gets served with its Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP for wireless day syncing with similar Bluetooth devices as well as microUSB 2.0 for wired option in data transfers

One feature that is considered a notch above typical basic handsets is its 2.1-inch TFT LCD display which gets QVGA resolution with 16 million colors while imaging is another that gets a par for the course 3.2 megapixel fixed focus camera with LED flash and QVGA video recording at 15fps – imaging features you can find in midrange mobile phones costing more.

Its multimedia is less than average with a monaural FM radio with RDS and comes with an audio player for MP3, AAC and WMA audio codecs but no video playback capability. There’s no 3.5mm audio jack but you get Bluetooth A2DP profile support so you can go wireless using stereo Bluetooth earphones.

Phone memory storage on the Samsung S5200 is a decent 50 MB with a phonebook capacity for up to 1,000 contact entries. You also have a microSD slot for up to 8GB of external memory expandability for your multimedia files on the road.

It comes preloaded with a document viewer for MS Office and PDF files and a WAP 2.0 web browser. You get a standard 800 mAh lithium-ion battery which when fully charged delivers up to 5 hours of talk time and 300 hours in standby mode.
