Orange will soon be offering two of Samsung’s latest handsets, the Wave and the Monte, to customers in the UK.
The network operator will add to its growing list of mobile phones when it starts selling the S8500 Wave and the S5620 Monte devices. Its list currently includes the HTC Desire.

Samsung S5620 Monte deals on contract
It seems the line separating a smartphone from a dumbphone is, for all practical sense, nearly gone. Unless you’re a tech geek, having an OS suddenly lose meaning in today’s mobile phones.

The Monte is a full-touchscreen monoblock on a trendy body measuring 108.8 x 53.7 x 12.4mm and weighing a light 92g that qualifies it as among the lightest touchscreens on the market, smartphone and not.
The focus is on entertainment and social networking positioned to the young crowd with an eye towards function and beauty. This can be found in Android touchscreens such as the Motorola Droid, Acer Liquid and the upcoming Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Xperia X10 but minus the bank-breaking prices.

- The Monte is a 3G phone on the dual band UMTS (900/2100) with 3.5 Mbps HSDPA broadband speed for online downloading. It’s also a quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) with class 10 EDGE/DPRS on 2G. Hotspot surfing gets WiFi 802.11b/g support while local high speed data connectivity gets Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and microUSB 2.0 HS. There’s a built-in GPS receiver with Assisted GPS receiver. It comes preloaded with Google Maps 3.0 and Latitude for real time pinpoint location.
- Display technology gets capacitive on a 3-inch Wide QVGA (240 x 400) resolution and 256k colors with the usual gravity accelerometer for face-down turn-to-mute and auto rotate viewing. Its built-in vidcam gets 3.2 megapixel resolution, a fixed focal length, smile detection, geo tagging form its GPS capability and a 15fps QVGA video recording. Its 3G video calls get supported by a front secondary CIF camera.
- Mobile entertainment on the Samsung S5620 Monte comes with capable media players for the popular audio and video formats as well as a stereo FM receiver with RDS, wireless stereo listening with A2DP and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s DNSe audio enhancer for stereo widening and surround effects.
Its 227 MB internal memory plus up to 1,000 phone entries with Photocall can be expanded up to 16 GB from its hot-swappable microSD expansion slot. Its slim 960 mAh Li-Ion battery gets a remarkable 9 hours of talk time and up to 770 hours in standby mode when fully charged.
