Earth-friendly features

Its GreenHeart features starts with a housing made of recycled plastics without harmful PVC and other hazardous chemicals. Even their sales package uses recycled and water-based ink for printing. It offers no printed user manual which you can access instead online. Features at a Glance

The Elm is a 3G phone on the dual band UMTS and a quad band GSM radio on the 2G networks. Data connectivity on 3G carries HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA at 2 Mbps while 2G carries class 10 GPRS at up 48 kbps and EDGE at 236.8 Kbps.

Display is the most understated feature on the Elm but that can be expected from a body measuring just 110 x 45 x 14mm which can accommodate only a 2.2-inch TFT LCD screen with QVGA resolution and 256k colors. It even comes with an unnecessary gravity accelerometer for auto rotate viewing in portrait or landscape, as the screen sports an almost squarish aspect ratio.

Its imaging function is tops with a 5 megapixel autofocus shooter with LED flash, face/smile detection and geo tagging from its GPS. There’s VGA video recording at 24fps with video light. No secondary video call camera but the primary camera supports it.

Entertainment gets a stereo FM radio with RDS and the media playback facility for the popular audio and video file formats in the markets. You get Mega Bass with TrackID and access to PlayNow site for the latest music content. It has no 3.5mm audio jack but its A2DP profile on Bluetooth enables wireless stereo listening.

The internal memory of the Sony Ericsson Elm is a generous 280 MB with up to 2,000 phonebook entries but you get microSD memory expandability for up to 8 GB. With a 1,000 mAh Li-Po battery, you get up to 10 hours of talk time on 2G and up to 430 hours in standby.
It comes preloaded with the SNS apps for Facebook, MySpace and Twitter as well as media sharing sites like YouTube. It comes with NetFront HTML browser with RSS reader, IM, Email and Push Email client support.

Latest Sony Ericsson Elm News

Sony Ericsson has released new details for three upcoming mobile phones that were announced earlier this week. First in the list is the Sony Ericsson Cedar. This handset is the latest addition to the Greenheart series of mobile phones and will also be following the same eco-friendly standards that have been set by previous models. Expect to get an impressive candy bar handset that has been manufactured with more than 50% recycled plastic, no toxic chemicals, water borne paint, and minimal packaging. The manuals are encoded in electronic format in order to conserve ink and paper resources...
Sony Ericsson has been making a very serious comeback. After a couple of years of bad financial performance, the company is slowly gaining ground and is slowly growing back to the big company that it used to be. The great thing about Sony is that despite their earnest efforts, they have not forgotten their commitment to the world. Greenpeace currently ranks Sony Ericsson as the second most eco friendly electronics manufacturer in the whole world –a close second only to Finnish manufacturer Nokia. The recognition was given early this year as Greenpeace released its list for 2010, which showe...
More than the Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA and U-series, the Greenheart line of mobile phone is probably the most impressive of all their devices. Given the fact that the XPERIA X10 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at a speed of 1 GHz, it still does not match up to the fact that Greenheart phones are made of over 50% recycled plastic. At the end of the day, the greenheart devices are more future proof that most other high-end mobile phones. But that notion should never imply that an eco friendly device like a Greenheart gadget cannot be high-end. The upcoming Sony Ericsson Elm a...
There are a lot of things going on in our planet right now, but nothing is more urgent and even more ignored than the fact that this world needs our help. Considering that capitalism and consumerism are the two most powerful forces on our planet right now (and maybe Oprah), it is no surprise that the biggest waste output our society produces is in the form of massive CO2 emissions. “A little can go a long way”, “change starts from within”, “every drop counts” –all these eco-friendly slogans are nothing unless they are put into action, Sony Ericsson knows this, they care about the environmen...
Sony Ericsson is keeping the spirit of responsible eco-management alive with their GreenHeart mobile phone series. They already have two GreenHeart devices for their holiday line up, Sunny and Susan. But the series does not stop there; Sony Ericsson has just recently announced there will be two more mobile phones in the GreenHeart lineup named Elm and Hazel. The GreenHeart series stands out for Sony’s eco-friendly approach in manufacturing these devices. First off the phones are made of at least 50% recycled plastics. The packing is very minimal to avoid wasting paper and the instruction ma...
