Also known as the C901, the Sony Ericsson Naite is a mid-range handset that gets the GreenHeart stamp for its eco-friendly qualities. Housed in a conventional candybar form factor, the Naite GreenHeart impresses with some of its decent features in an unpretentious body measuring 108 x 47 x 12.6 mm weighing a pocket-friendly 84g and comes in either vapor silver or ginger red.

As a bonafide GreenHeart About 60% of the Naite body is made of recycled plastic that had no toxic content and painted using waterborne pains which lower user exposure to volatile organic compounds.
It comes with low power consuming chargers and is packaged in its box that likewise use recycled paper pulp. There’s none of the usual user manual as users are encouraged to go online to access its E-manual form the Sony Ericsson site.
Sony claims this feature reduces paper usage by 90% and its small packaging translates to a savings of 80% in CO2 emission when being transported. The handset itself is preloaded with the Walkmate pedometer as well as the Ecomate with Carbon Footprint CO2 Calculator that tells you much CO2 emission you saved by taking a walk or riding in a bus instead of taking your car to/from the office.
Phone Features
But eco-friendly feature aside, the Naite’s real value comes form its outstanding phone features for a mid-priced handset. For a start, this is a quad band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with class 10 GPRS/EDGE data connectivity of up to 236.8 Kbps on the 2G network.
What makes this unassuming mid-price handset standout is that it’s also a tri-band UMTS (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz) with 3.6 MBPS HSDPA data speeds for fast internet access. As with most mid-range handsets, it has no WiFi for hotspot surfing support. But you still get Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0 for wireless and wired data transfers and syncing. There’s no GPS as well.
With its conventional candybar form, the Naite gets a smallish 2.2-inch TFT LCD screen that impresses with excellent readability under the bright sun. It has a QVGA resolution and 256k color depth. Imaging is decent at 2 megapixel fixed focus camera with 2.5x digital zoom and a basic video recording capability.
Its multimedia features comes with the media player for the popular audio and video formats with TrackID as well as a stereo FM radio with RDS, YouTube Flash support and online video streaming. You can enhance our listening pleasure with its MegaBass feature. There’s no 3.5mm audio jack but you can use its A2DP profile support to use wireless stereo earphones.
While there’s no GPS, it comes preloaded with Google Maps. It also gets the NetFront HTML browser that supports Web feeds and Exchange ActiveSync. You get a decent 100 MB phone memory with MicroSD slot for eternal memory expandability up to 8 GB. Its li-ion battery rated at 950 mAh delivers up to 13.6 ours of talk time on 2G with 600 hours in standby and whopping 33 hours of non-stop music playback time.
