Preview Summary:Sony Ericsson Satio 3

Mad about media? So is the Sony Ericsson Satio. This advanced handset not only plays HD video, but it bolsters your gaming experience by letting you play games in both 3D and HD.

There’s also a mighty 12MP camera with 12x zoom and autofocus that puts most the snappers on most mobiles to shame. Chuck in document editors, email, colour-matched stereo headphones, Google Maps and a 3.5” widescreen display, and you’re in media heaven. Enjoy.

Sony Ericsson Satio Preview

Overall

About as good an all-round media player as we´ve come across, the Satio ticks more boxes than you could possibly need ticking. Play videos on your daily commute? This does it in mobile HD for you. Play games? How about HD and 3D games at your fingertips. Use your phone for work occasionally? There´s document readers and editors onboard, and full email support. Take pictures? How does a fully-featured 12 megapixel camera sound?...

We could go on, but let´s just say the Satio is mighty, mighty impressive when it comes to handling just about any media task you can throw at it.

Details

The fact that Sony Ericsson are treating all the different media-paying capabilities of this thing equally is evidenced by the inclusion of a neat, instant-access panel on the touchscreen homepage that gives you access to all the most common tasks at a single tap of your finger. So if you´re someone who bounces around between the video player, the camera, the internet and everything else available, this could make your life a whole lot simpler.

The camera itself is a work of art, even if Sony Ericsson are choosing not to talk about it ahead of any of the phone´s other features. With a whopping 12 megapixels, a host of other fantastic features and a great Xenon flash, you´ll pretty much be able to chuck out your current camera and just use this instead.

Another great thing to note here is that, unlike many, Sony Ericsson don´t skimp on what comes as standard not only on the phone, but also with it. Whatever colour you choose here (and all three, in our opinion, look as good as each other), SE provide you with a colour-matched set of stereo headphones, and also an 8GB microSD card – more than enough to get you started with your music and video playing.

Add to this just about every other feature and function going – from the A-GPS to the Facebook application to the handwriting recognition to the WiFi – and you´ve got a very, very impressive package indeed.

Keep your eyes peeled for the deals available on this thing, because if you can find yourself something that suits your wallet, your palm, fingers and video-watching eyes are going to be very thankful indeed!

I still remember my very first camera phone. It was a Sagem something or other (that wasn’t its actual name) and it boasted a state of the art 2MP snapper. I’m kidding of course, the camera on that phone was never ‘state of the art’ but the novelty at the time was unreal. Fast forward 7 y...

It is not news that Sony Ericsson is in trouble. They have been these past couple of years due to low phone sales and sadly, mostly weak devices.
