Sony Ericsson Vivaz deals on contract

Sony Ericsson Vivaz deals

Amidst a flurry of dazzling Android smartphones, no one would have thought a Symbian can just as dazzle as what Sony Ericsson did. Formerly know as the Kurara in the online rumor corridors before its official release, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz smartphone runs the most popular Symbian OS for smartphones now carrying the S60 5th release iteration and promises to restore the Sony Ericsson name alongside the more innovative industry players.

First the stand-out features

The Vivaz may not have a stone-throwing distance to the Satio’s unchallenged position as the topmost camera smartphone with its 12 megapixel resolution, but it still carries one of the best 8-megapixel snapper and other high spec features that make it Sony’s number two Symbian smartphone after the Satio.

With touchfocus that lets you define with a touch of a finger which part of a scene to focus, apart from its usual autofocus, LED flash, face and smile detection, and geo-tagging from its built-in GPC receiver, the Vivaz has enough imaging authority to make other competent camera phones look ancient.

But it gets better. You can shoot video at a high definition 720p at a Blu-Ray quality 24 fps frame rate which the older Satio can’t touch with its more pedestrian VGA video recording. Its direct rival would be the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, another Symbian with 720p video recording.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz lets you display your HD video on a 3.2-inch wide-VGA resistive touchscreen with 16 million colors and also enjoys a gravity accelerometer for auto-rotate viewing with the handset tilt. Its virtual on screen QWERTY and alphanumeric keys are quite responsive to the finger even without the usual stylus pen that’s unexpected from a resistive touchscreen. It is powered by the same 720 MHz PowerVR SGX graphics processor found on the Satio but clocked at a lower 600 MHz.

High Spec Features

It’s a 3G phone on a dual band UMTS with HSDPA at 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA at 2 Mbps data connectivity as well as quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G. It has WiFi 802.11b/g with DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2.0 for local data connectivity. SatNav gets A- GPS with Google Maps and WisePilot navigation system for a voiced turn-by-turn direction.

Multimedia gets the same Sony pedigreed media players, stereo FM receiver, 3.5mm headphone jack and TV-out (VGA resolution) and A2DP wireless stereo listening. A 1200 mAh Lithium-polymer battery gets you up to a remarkable 13 hours of talk time and 18 days in standby.

To say that Sony Ericsson is back on its feet would be skipping plenty of much needed explanations. First off, the company was in far worse positions than being knocked down -it was practically sinking into a mush of financial deficits. The situation was more than bad; it was bleak, with little hope of recovery and many experts predicting that the end for the giant is coming soon. Well, it looks like Bert Nordberg has plenty to teach the publi...

Successful launches of its latest smartphones, the XPERIA X10 and the Vivaz in particular, have helped Sony Ericsson gain an unexpected profit for the first three months of 2010. Although mobile phone sales actually fell by 28% to 10.5 million, compared to the same time last year, the company still achieved a profit. Sony Ericsson said it was because of new handsets and cutbacks – which is why its net profit is €21 million ($28 million/£18 ...
