Toshiba TG02 deals on contract

One of the giants in consumer electronics that has followed Sony’s foray in mobile phones, Japan’s Toshiba gets fired up with another Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone with its new Toshiba TG02 that updates the world’s first Snapdragon smartphone in the TG01. The new Windows Phone 7 Series is just around the corner and we can expect an upgrade path to it.

High Specs at a Glance

• The Toshiba TG02 extends the same elegantly styled TG01 frame with the same 126 x 66 x 9.9mm body measurement to make the similarly the world’s thinnest smartphone when Nokia can only manage 10mm on its E71/72 smartphones/ It has a lightweight 119g – 10 grams lighter than the TG01. Toshiba advertises it as water splash resistant so it can survive handling with wet hands in the bath or swimming pool. Just don’t let it drop in the water.
• You get one of the largest displays of any mobile phone with a high riding 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with WideVGA (480 x 800) resolution and 65k color depth. There’s the usual gravity accelerometer for auto-rotate landscape or portrait viewing and shake control for auto-arranging homescreen icons and widgets.
• Its imaging gets more conventional with a 3.2 megapixel fixed focus snapper but allows one of the best VGA video recording facilities at a cinema-grade 30fps frame rate. A secondary VGA camera sits up front above the display for 3G video calls and can do QVGA video recording that other mobile phones do for their main shooter.

Its phone memory consists of a decent 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM with near-unlimited phonebook fields and entries and can be expanded using its microSD external memory slot for up to 16 GB.   Its slim profile gets a thin 1,000 mAh Li-Ion battery which when fully charged can get the Toshiba TG02 up to 5 hours of talk time and 275 hours in standby.
