Why compare with us?

In a word or two

The Vodafone 845 is the first Vodafone-branded Android smartphone and promises an array of features in a compact frame.

The Design

Compact and estimated to be the smallest Android to-date, the Vodafone 845 is a neat little device with a modern style and 2.8 inch screen. The screen is touch-sensitive and supported by an optical trackpad along the bottom for accessing calls, menu, home screen and ending calls. Navigation promises to be quick and responsive and the display is clear and laid out in a friendly way.

The Vodafone 845 is even more compact than the HTC Legend, and is competing with the likes of the HTC Tattoo in terms of pricing and capability.

Specifications

Run on the Google Android 2.1 OS, the Vodafone 845 comes with various Google apps including Google Mail and YouTube, as well as access to the Android Market. You can personalise all 7 home screens on the 845 phone, and you’re able to tell which screen you’re viewing thanks to the little dots aligned along the bottom – just like on the iPhone.

You can browse the Market and download apps and games, and then arrange them as you wish. To add apps, you simply press and hold the screen, and then select from the list. To move apps around, you just press and hold the screen, and then drag the app you want to the screen and location you want. The Vodafone 845 comes with apps pre-installed which include Facebook – and there is the Vodafone 360 service onboard too for social networking and music.

The Vodafone 845 comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera. Sadly there is no flash but there is autofocus and a video. And you can edit your images using the onboard software, and there are multiple ways to share easily including messaging, Picasa, Google Mail and Bluetooth.

For storing your photos, videos and music, you can always use a memory card if you need extra space as the Vodafone 845 supports up to 16GB.

Considerations

The price of the Vodafone 845 is still unknown.

Verdict

The Vodafone 845 looks good, is certainly portable and has some friendly features. From what we know, if the price is right, this smartphone should be worth considering if you want an affordable Android mobile.
