Dixons mobile phone deals & offers on contract
Dixons is an online retailer of electrical items that is owned by DSG International. DSG International also owns Currys and PC World. Dixons was originally founded as a photographic studio by Charles Kalms in 1937. Increasing success allowed Kalms to open a chain of studios up until the end of the Second World War when the demand for photographic portraits declined. At this point Dixons branched out into selling other items, eventually having stores open on virtually every high street in the UK. In 2006 DSG International decided to transform Dixons into an online only venture, selling off many of its stores to competitors and rebranding the rest to become part of Currys. The rebranding was possible due to the similar nature of the two stores, and the new online Dixons retails the same type of products as can be found in Currys and the earlier high street Dixons stores. Dixons sells a large range of TVs, washing machines and computers as well as a number of smaller electronic items such as digital cameras and computer accessories. Being based solely online allows Dixons to offer lower prices than high street competitors due to their reduced overheads, and Dixons operates a price matching scheme whereby they promise to match the prices of their competitors. Regularly offering sales on expensive electronic items, Dixons also has a clearance section where older products can be purchased for a much reduced price. As they are no longer to be found on the high street items must be ordered for delivery, but Dixons offers free delivery on all items. For products that require installation, Dixons´ delivery team will offer make sure your new product is set up correctly and remove your old appliance for recycling. |
