O2 mobile phone deals & offers on contract
O2 is the largest mobile phone network in the UK having an almost monopolistic share of the market. Originally part of British Telecom the company underwent rebranding during a demerger in 2001 and has since then been taken over by Spanish telecommunications giant Telefónica Europe. Now one of the most easily recognisable telecommunications brands in the UK O2´s success is largely due to its excellent track record and service. DSG International, owners of Currys and PC World, founded the Link chain of stores in 1994 to specifically retail mobile phones due to an inability to expand some of their existing properties. Partly owned by O2, the network operator took a majority share in 2006 while DSG retained control of the Link website. After this takeover O2 had all of the 300 Link branches nationwide rebranded to their own name, further imbedding their logo on to the public consciousness. O2´s website allows you to search through deals in relation to manufacturer or model, as well as searching for the best phones regarding music or photography. This means that if you would like a phone with a high-end camera, or perhaps one with exceptional music features, you can search through the best deals available for phones which fall into those categories. This is a nice feature of their website which many online retailers do not offer. Being a mobile phone network as well as a high street and online retailer O2 naturally only retail their own phones. Because of this you will not find phones belonging to another network, so if you´re preferred network is one of O2´s competitors you might be advised to shop elsewhere. |
