The BlackBerry Pearl 9100 promises to be a great edition to the Pearl series.

 

 

The BlackBerry Pearl 9100 is black and glossy, a scaled down version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700. With similar dimensions to the Pearl 8100, the 9100 follows on from others in the BlackBerry Pearl range including the 8110, 8120 and Pearl Flip 8220.

 

Unlike its predecessors, though, the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 does not have the iconic pearl-like trackball. Instead, the mobile features the optical touchpad which should ensure easy and enjoyable navigation.  In keeping with the Pearl series, the phone has SureType which is basically a half-QWERTY keyboard, and helps to keep the mobile slim and pocket-friendly.

 

Codenamed the BlackBerry Striker and BlackBerry Stratus, the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 is reported to feature a newly designed battery, with its back resembling the BlackBerry Storm 2 but on a smaller scale.

 

 

The BlackBerry Pearl 9100 is a 3G smartphone, like the Pearl 8130. This should ensure you can access the Internet with ease including social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. The phone has support for SMS, MMS, email, instant messaging, as well as Bluetooth and microUSB connectivity.

 

Whether you want to use your BlackBerry Pearl 9100 for work or pleasure, the Document editor will be handy as it allows you to view Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents from the phone.

 

The full specifications of the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 are still to be confirmed but it is expected to run on the latest BlackBerry Operating System 5.0 and feature Wi-Fi. There will be an inbuilt camera with an LED flash also.
