Introduction

The Blackberry Storm 9500 is a great new phone from Blackberry which offers a great range of features for business users and also has some entertainment features available which make this an all round mobile phone. The massive 3.25 inch display is a great achievement for mobile phone technology and offers users a nice and enjoyable view of photos, movies and of course, emails, documents and files. The phone is also equipped with GPS and an a-GPS function which makes it a great phone for people who are out and about a lot because you’ll always be able to find your way around.

Specifications

The Blackberry Storm has a huge set of features which are great for all sorts of reasons. The phone is equipped with a 3.2 mega pixel camera with flash and auto focus and is also able to record videos. The phone also able to connect to high speed broadband using HSDPA 3G so you can download files, surf the web and send emails with ease. The phone’s email client is very good and allows you to see emails with attachments and as this is a Blackberry there is an on screen QWERTY keyboard which makes texting and typing easier and faster than with an ordinary mobile phone keypad.

The phone is touch screen controlled and has a great high quality screen resolution which means the menu and applications are bright and easy to use. You’ll definitely enjoy this phone and all its features and I have to say I’m very excited by it. The memory on this phone is also great with 1GB of internal memory which can be expanded to 8GB using Micro SD cards. The phone also has 128MB of RAM. The phone also has instant messaging available as well as SMS, MMS and email so you’ll always be able to keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues.

All in all, the features on this phone are ideal for personal and business use. The phone has a great document viewer and using the 3.25 inch display you’ll be able to see the documents in perfect clarity. Browsing the web is also made better because of the high quality display and I have to say that I’ve yet to see a Blackberry that is as stylish and slim line as this one. It’s an all rounder phone which means it’ll appeal to personal and business users due to it’s high quality range of features.

Looks

For a Blackberry, this phone is very stylish and although rather wide it’s extremely slim line for a Blackberry and offers a beautiful sleek finish. The phone itself is 112.5mm by 62.2mm by 14mm and weighs 155 grams which is heavy but it is a smart phone and this is about average for a Blackberry smart phone anyway. The phone is available in Black at the moment but I’m sure other colours will become available soon. I like the fact that this phone is almost completely touch screen and I have to say that Blackberry have done a very good job in making the looks of this phone stylish.

Blackberry phones have always been large and chunky but this phone is very stylish and sexy when compared with other Blackberries on the market. I think you’ll appreciate the design of this phone when you have it in your hand and the ergonomic design of this phone makes it easy to use and pleasant to hold. I really do like this phone and I think for a Blackberry it’s incredibly good looking and stylish. The fact that the 3.25 inch display is the majority of the phone makes it appear sleek and stylish and is really is a beautiful looking phone.

Design

The design of this phone is exceptional and all the applications and features work extremely well and this high quality device runs quickly and smoothly as well. It uses the Blackberry OS which has always been very good and yet again, Blackberry has shown up Nokia and Sony Ericsson in terms of software. Blackberry’s software has always been superior and I think the Blackberry Storm shows why they are becoming a leader in the mobile phone market for personal and business phones. The stylish design of this phone and the curved edges make it a popular phone for personal users as well as business users.

Overall

All in all, the Blackberry Storm is a great phone and I really think it’ll do well against the newer smart phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson – even Samsung and LG will have some work to do. This phone has all you need – the looks, the style and the features in a beautiful package. I think this phone is very Blackberry and although it has a lot of new features it still looks like a Blackberry phone which I think is important for any phone manufacturer. The design is awesome in my opinion and I think if you want a Blackberry phone – there really is no other choice than the Storm.

It’s a beautiful phone with great features and although it does have a lot of entertainment features it’s still a business Blackberry at heart. I like the fact that Blackberry have managed to bring their designs into the style zone and I think that they’re likely to do exceptionally well in terms of sales this year and next. The stylish design of this phone makes it appeal to a lot of users – if you compare older Blackberries; it’s amazing how far they have come in such a short space of time.

Overall, the Blackberry Storm is an amazing phone and I’d highly recommend it to any mobile phone user. It’s stylish, feature filled and works exceptionally well for a smart phone. The 3G internet, high quality camera and exciting 3.25 inch display makes this phone able to compete in the high end range of the market with ease and I really think it’s a worthy purchase for any mobile phone user who wants entertainment features on a stylish phone with business applications.

I owned a Storm for 1 week then it had to go back to Vodafone, the battery lasted less then a day and it kept crashing. The features were good on the phone but very slow to load and use. Companys should iron out the bugs before putting there products on the market and causing consumers problem after problem.

I HATE IT!! But I'm stuck with it. The flip between landscape and portrait view is slow, and drives me nuts, as does the screen lock. Touch screen is also unresponsive. Wish I'd never read the review "Best Phone of the Year" which encouraged me to buy it!

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE: This is the third Storm I've had now in 6 months. The first one never connected to the vodafone network out of the box, the second one lasted about 6 months before going into permanent SOS calls only mode and the new one is still in the box. I cant upgrade to a better one because I'm tied into a contract. Initially it was super slow, but since the recent software upgrade to version 4.7.0.141 (which apparently is going to be the last version of this OS they are going to be doing) its now only very slow, so thats some improvement. Still takes ages to respond to unlocking and locking, takes ages to change orientation, and writing messages used to be better with the old version of the keypad that came with OS version 4.7.0.65 that had the traditional number keypad in portrait mode. Now there is one button per letter and each one is a lot smaller so its really frustrating. Please Blackberry, if you are reading this, you need to do the following: 1. speed up the response time of the locking button, 2. Dont change orientation of screen when it is locked (whats the point in that!?! it just removes my custom wallpaper), 3. bring back the old sms keypad, speed up response of the camera which takes about a week to take a picture 4. add more useful apps like a calendar and appointments 5. make the application switcher more intelligent so you can see which apps are currently running and using memory and battery power in the background 6. add support for WiFi 7. Fix the bugs that cause the thing to crash 8. put some better games on, the ones that come with it are rubbish and the ones you can download either never work, or not that great when you finally get them working 9. add a native app store where you can get 3rd party apps 10. fix the screen so you dont get light bleeding around the edges 11. Make it quicker to shut down. My PC shuts down faster than this phone. 12. have a physical lock button so the phone does not accidentally unlock if you knock the top of it in your pocket - either that or make the holster have a flap on the top so you can protect it better. 13. Make the holster have a transparent window on it so you can tell who's calling without having to take it out and unlock it (by which time, the caller has hung up The phone looks great, but the problems with it just mean its not worth recommending.
