HTC Desire HD Review
Along with the Desire Z the Desire HD is a continuation of what looks set to become a popular line of phones. With the original Desire being such a proud moment for HTC it was almost inevitable that they would seek to capitalise on it. The Desire HD takes many of the features of the Desire and pushes them to the extreme. While the phone performs exceptionally in all areas that it dips its toes, it performs particularly well in the area of video – with full HD video support being the reason behind its name.
The Desire HD can playback HD video, stream HD video from online and even records its own HD video through the 8 megapixel camera. This camera is not only fantastic for video but is pretty darn good at taking pictures too. You can enjoy all of your own captured media straight from the phone as it boasts a whopping 4.3" screen with WVGA resolution.
The Desire HD runs on Google Android 2.2 and also features HTC´s highly popular Sense interface. This adds a number of great features to the already fantastic Android. One of particular interest is Friend Stream, which will pool information regarding your contacts from various social networks like Facebook and Twitter and have them displayed directly to the phone. No need to login through the web browser.
Which is a shame because web browsing also happens to be another area where the Desire HD outperforms its rivals. Web browsing is greatly enhanced by the inclusion of Adobe Flash support which automatically opens up more of the internet than would be available for users of even the latest iPhone. Web browsing is also easy and available wherever you may be thanks to the many connectivity options available, including 3G and Wi-Fi.
Multimedia is another area that makes the Desire HD a spectacular device, with the already mentioned HD video support it is also a great phone for listening to music. With 1.5GB internal storage and another 32GB available with microSD you can store a significant chunk of music to listen to on the move. You can also listen to up and coming stars through the FM radio.
This phone is amazing for staying in touch with friends, not just through the social media support, but with SMS, MMS and email all handled exceptionally. Emails from multiple email accounts can be pooled together into a single inbox so you do not need to go searching through each individually.
