HTC S740 Review - read honest HTC S740 reviews

The HTC S740 is one of the new smartphones to be released in the market today. This is one of the first few smartphones to be released without a touch screen, and still feature at the high end of the price spectrum. This was released right after the launch of the HTC S730, though the S730 looked much better.

-       Camera: 3.15 MP primary camera which can capture photos with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution/ Videos can be recorded

-        Connectivity: Class 10 GPRS which allows data to be transferred at a 48 kbps/ Class 10 EDGE with 236.8 kbps data transfer speed/ HSDPA/ Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP/ USB version 2.0

-       Music: Music player allows both MP3’s and AAC music formats to be played

-       Other features: GPS/ Pocket Office/ Voice memo

 

The S740 looks very different form the S730 in having straight edges instead of the curved edges in devices such as the HTC Touch. The front of the phone is covered with a glossy finish. This looks very elegant. The shiny area does not look cheap as in some phones like the Nokia 5610. The slide out QWERTY keyboard is heavier than the top half of the phone which allows you to hold the phone in your palm easily. The display is easy to navigate through, though not in the class of phones like the iPhone. The entire front of the phone is smooth with the raised call and end keys easy to operate. Even the number pad is easy to operate on and you could even get used to typing out messages by touch in just a few days. The middle key has a small raised area which allows you to find the center key without any hassle. The power button is on the top of the phone and the camera button is on the side thus allowing you to capture photos in the landscape mode easily.

 

Overall, the phone is a good smartphone as it comes with all the connectivity options and hardly any of the expected bulk. The weight is pretty low for a smartphone. The fact that the phone is quite narrow allows you to slip the phone in your pocket with ease. The phone comes with Windows Media Player allowing you to organize your music easily. A sleep timer is also included in the phone. The camera on the S740 is quite good as it is faster and definitely more responsive than phones such as the LG Dare. Specification wise, it does not disappoint as the camera is almost as good as in phones like the Nokia N95. The only downside of this phone is the battery which does not last as long as some phones like the Nokia 5030.
