The look of the LG Mini GD880 is smart. Encased in black and with the screen dominating the majority of the phone’s front, the Mini has no physical buttons to disrupt the flow of its design. Similar in size to the LG GD510 Pop, although with a slightly larger touchscreen, the Mini is an ideal size for carrying with you at all times.

 

With a name that includes the word “Mini”, the LG Mini GD880 is naturally a neat phone. However, at 3.2 inches, the screen is not particularly small and the resolution is high so the images displayed are bright and colourful. LG says it designed this latest edition to its GD range of mobiles in response to customers wanting a phone which is not too big or expensive.

 

The Mini is an attractive phone, enhanced by the scratch-resistant nature of the screen. You can turn the screen to landscape view when browsing the internet or typing a longer message, making the LG Mini GD880 more than just a pretty device.

 

 

Like other LG mobiles including the LG BL40, the LG Mini GD880 runs on the S-Class platform. This OS features the 3D cube on the home screen which gives you the choice of icons, shortcuts, web browser and contacts. The interface works well and there are some nice touches such as pinch zooming on the web browser and Flash support.

 

The LG Mini GD880 comes with social networking integration, and Twitter and Facebook apps are pre-installed on the handset. It’s effortless to keep up-to-date with friends and family with this phone’s Social Network Connect element which displays new messages etc on the home screen.

 

The Mini can keep you on track in other ways too, as the mobile comes with a GPS receiver inbuilt. This means you can plot journeys and check your progress – and the miniature size of the handset makes having your phone on you at all times, feasible.

 

You can take some pretty decent photos using the LG Mini GD880 as the camera features 5-megpixels, autofocus, geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilisation and video. There is also a secondary camera on the front of the phone for making video calls. With support for both 3G and Wi-Fi, uploading images onto sites like Flickr and YouTube is straightforward. You can also share your pictures via email, MMS, and Bluetooth or microUSB connection.

 

Music wise, the LG Mini GD880 offers the choice of an MP3 player where you can store your favourite tracks and an FM radio. There is also the choice of listening through the phone’s speaker or the 3.5mm audio connector.

 

 

The Mini is a small and slim handset but is not tiny thanks to its 3.2 inch touchscreen.
