Motorola Aura Reviews

Introduction

The Motorola Aura is the brand new style and fashion phone from Motorola which is set to be released sometimes at the end of 2008. The US release is in December and the rest of world is waiting to hear when this beautiful phone will become available. Ok, first things first, the phone is extremely expensive and will cost you over £1000 on PAYG. This could have something to do with the 62 carat crystal display which is supposed to be the most scratch resistant material on earth. This phone is beautiful and is designed as an icon of fashion and artistry but does have some good features as well.

Specifications

The phone is equipped with a 2 mega pixel camera which isn’t the best camera in the world but it’ll serve you well enough to snap a few shots here and there. The phone also has EDGE internet which allows for sending and receiving emails, surfing the web and downloading files. The phone is also equipped with a media player which plays all formats of music including Windows Media files so you can listen to music while you’re on the go. The phone is quad band so you should be able to use it anywhere in the world which is a bonus and also you can expect to enjoy the MMS and SMS facilities like on an ordinary phone.

The phone has a nice set of features and although they’re a little lacking, it’s already clear that this phone is more about what it looks like than what it can do. The phone also has a lot to offer in terms of its looks and to be honest that’s what this phone is all about so talking about features doesn’t take long. The phone’s keypad is individually crafted key by key and then placed individually on the phone which makes it look extremely stylish. The phone’s mechanism is a rotating which has 130 precision bearings which are Swiss made and you can feel the phone slide open smoothly and perfectly.

The phone’s looks are all this phone is about so if you like stylish fashion phones then you’ll love this. The idea behind this phone was to “bring the artistry back into mobile phones” and I’d say they’ve done that very well. The phone’s features come second and are unlikely to interest many people but I have to say that for a style phone it certainly does have a nice set of features which aren’t as lacking as I thought they’d be.

Looks

Ok, so the looks are what this phone is all about and I have to say the phone is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. The phone was based on some of the high end luxury watches that are available and you can feel this in the finish of the phone. The phone has a look which simply catches people’s eyes and is likely to get you thousands of compliments. The phone’s overall look is that of a watch and the rotating mechanism makes the phone extremely unique. I don’t think I’ve seen a phone as beautiful as this in all the time I’ve been looking at mobile phones.

The phone’s high spec features of design are incredible and are likely to blow you away. The phone has the first 16 million colour circular display which gives it a completely unique look. Circular displays have been done before but usually they are a rectangular display housed in a circular casing but this phone has a genuine circular LCD display which is completely unique and absolutely beautiful. Whether or not it is practical is yet to be decided but personally I don’t think that the people buying this phone will be looking for practicalities – especially when you consider the look and feel of this phone.

Design

The beautiful design of this phone is completely unique and I don’t think I’ve seen something this beautiful in mobile phones ever before. The rotating mechanism slides with elegance and I think you’d be completely ecstatic if you could purchase this phone. The mobile phone itself runs on a pretty standard operating system but it does have a good memory of 2GB which means you can store quite a bit of music on this phone as well as photos and files. Overall, the design of this phone is simply the most beautiful and unique thing I’ve ever seen and I think it’ll be extremely popular.

Overall

The phone’s features are given a back seat with this phone and although you still have access to a 2 mega pixel camera, media player and internet facilities, it’s the phone’s looks that everyone is fascinated by. The phone is simply incredible and the quality and effort that has gone into the design of this phone is unmissable. The phone’s style is unique and I think you’d be very hard pushed to find any kind of mobile phone, whether new or old, that had the beautiful display and look that this phone has.

I think that this phone is probably the best looking phone I’ve ever seen but then it should be at over £1000 on PAYG. I think unfortunately, this phone is only available to someone who has that kind of cash lying around but I guess if you really like it you could save up and you never know the price may drop over time. However, considering the front piece of the phone takes 2 weeks to make I’m not sure that this phone is designed to be bought by everyone who wants it.

The phone is simply incredible and I have to say that if I had the money I would definitely buy this phone – not for its features but simply for the unique and stylish look this phone has – plus, as it is made with the high precision and quality that luxury watches are made with it is likely that this phone will last a considerable amount of time when compared to other handsets on the market. However, if features are your thing and you’re not into style phones then I’d give the Motorola Aura a wide birth. It is a phone that is all about fashion, style and artistry – not about features like WiFi and GPS.

Who pays this much for a phone? It's like those Nokia 8800 series phones, basically for people with more money than sense IMHO. Then again I'm not loaded so who am I to say what people should spend their cash on? £1000 fashion icon!

i purchased this phone because i live in a poor reception area and it is 2g. my blackberry and samsung tocco ultra even set on 2g would not pick up a sgnial and i get severe migraines, this phone has 5 bars on reception all over the house , call quality is great, and the screen just has to be seen to be believed it is amazing . the build quality is second to none. bad points after one day , texting is a bit fiddly but apart from that very impressed, Camera has been slated cos of 2 mega pixal but it is better than i have seen on a 3.2 or a 5 . i got it way less than half price, as some people are finding them hard to sell, as there are some twin sim card fakes out there. I have registered mine with motorola and then they look after you with any help you need with the aura, if you want a phone to make good clear calls whereever you are, fine pics, and build quality awsome and stand out from job blogs, this is the phone for you. and bare in mind some people pay £600 plus for a htc pro 2 etc.
