The Nokia 1680 Classic was released by Nokia during the Growing Together 2008 conference in addition to the Nokia 5000, Nokia 2680 Slide and the Nokia 7070 Prism. The Nokia 1680 Classic can be said to be the most affordable camera phone that has been released by Nokia ever. It capitalises on the fact that it is has a lot of very basic features with the added benefit of having a camera despite its low price tag.As mentioned earlier, the 1680 Classic has a very basic specifications sheet which is given below.

- Colour schemes include Black, Wine Red, Slate Gray and Deep Plum
The 1680 has some fairly modest looks in keeping with its profile of a no frills low – cost phone. Certain parts of the front part of the phone as well as the battery cover is decked in the relevant colour scheme that you choose for your phone i.e. wine red, slate gray, black or deep plum. The keypad of the phone, rather than being flat, is raised at the bottom of every row of keys, thereby ensuring that you won’t have to grope around in the dark for the keys. The direction keys on the D-pad can be used by the silver button. The sides of the phone are plain without any keys or anything as such. On the top of the back panel of the 1680 Classic lies the camera and, beside the lens, is a self – portrait mirror, something which originated with the Samsung D500. The Nokia logo is on the top of the battery case and the speaker is at the bottom left of the phone. This awkward positioning means that there is a good chance that you might not hear the ringing tone when a call is coming or a message is received.
All – in – all, the Nokia 1680 Classic is clearly aimed at the lower segment of the audience, the people who would like to have a phone which has pretty much all the basic features at a very affordable price. Its stylish looks ensure that it will also appeal to the young market as well.
