Details

This freshly tuned iteration of Nokia´s first ever touchscreen device (and what a device!) is coming your way in the guise of the all new Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition. This very interesting handset retains all the things that were amazing about the original, whilst coming preloaded with a lifetime license for the voice-guided, turn-by-turn ´Drive´ and ´Walk´ navigation tools. These allow you to plot out routes to and from places, either on your PC or Mac at home, or directly on the phone itself, using the fantastic Nokia Maps software. And as their names suggests, whether you´re driving or walking to your destination, the 5800 will guide you to within metres of it, using both vocalised directions and on-screen tracking.

The 5800 Navigation Edition is also packed with all your guidance software set up tools, and comes together with a handy car charger and cradle, meaning that if you´ve been considering a standalone SatNav device, you can consider no longer! Thanks to the large, clear screen, this thing will serve you just as well as even a top end device. And what´s more, the lifetime licenses, linking with Nokia Maps, can also give you all the live traffic updates, weather reports location details and other information you´d expect.

Then, as you´ll see here, you´ve still of course got all that was fantastic about the original 5800. The dedicated audio chip is still in there, giving you unrivalled sound quality, whether you´re listening through headphones as you follow your route on foot, or listen through the truly incredible stereo speakers as you drive. So not only does this replace the need to buy a standalone SatNav, you can also forget about buying yourself a dedicated music player too... very impressive

Conclusion

Three devices in one sound good to you? Then that´s just what you can pick up with the 5800 Navigation Edition. Using the fantastic Nokia maps, it´s as good as any standalone SatNav device, and even goes better than most thanks to its ability to direct you on foot as well as in your car. Then it´s still just about the best mobile music device you can get your hands on. And finally, did we mention the fact that it works pretty well as a phone too?!
