Nokia Booklet 3G

Summary

You know Nokia. You trust them. Everyone does. They make solid, reliable, consistent good phones.

Now they´ve started making laptops... and gues what. The Booklet 3G is as good, reliable and solid a laptop (or netbook, as it were) as you can currently buy yourself.

With everything that the very best netbooks out there have, and some extra special Nokia goodness thrown in, you really can´t go wrong with this thing.

Details

Powered by the efficient Intel Atom processor, the Nokia Booklet 3G is as impressively fast as any current netbook from the likes of Samsung, Acer or Dell. It´s also running the just-released Windows 7, meaning it´s going to be tuned just perfectly for the specs. Delivering the rich experience of a full-function PC inside an ultra-portable aluminium body, this thing also more than looks the part – it´s design is simply breathtaking (especially when you compare it against some of the dross that people jumping on the netbook bandwagon have been releasing lately). Weighing in at not much over a kilogram, and measuring only two centimetres thin, you can not only carry it around wherever you go, but also be very proud of it whenever you do have to whip it out and start using it.

The mini-laptop comes with a bunch of useful bits and bobs that you´d expect. There´s an HDMI port for HD video out, a front facing camera for video calling, integrated Bluetooth and an easily accessible SD card reader. The 10-inch screen is made of a high quality glass and is HD ready. There´s also HSPA and Wi-Fi helping you to stay connected wherever you are. As one Nokia suit has been quoted:

“A growing number of people want the computing power of a PC with the full benefits of mobility. We are in the business of connecting people and the Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us. Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premium design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quite compelling. In doing so we will make the personal computer more social, more helpful and more personal.”

But what makes this thing special, what gives it its edge over its competition? Well, simple really: battery life, A-GPS, 3G. Easy as A, B, C!

The 12 hour battery life is simply astonishing. Fair enough, if you´re using some high-drain applications you´re not going to get the full 12 hours, but even so, the battery on this thing is in a whole different league to everything else out there.

Then there´s the 3G, giving you high speed access to the Internet, including Nokia´s broad suite of Ovi services, allowing you to have another option (if, for example, WiFi lets you down) to make the most of every moment and every opportunity.

Finally, the integrated A-GPS works in tandem with the Ovi Maps software, allowing you to pinpoint your position in seconds and access a truly personal maps experience. The Booklet 3G also brings a number of other rich Ovi experiences to life, whether it´s access and playback of millions of tracks through the Nokia Music Store, or using Ovi Suite to sync seamlessly from your phone to your netbook.

Conclusion

Need we say more?

Nokia + netbook = a whole lotta love from us.
