The C6-01 is one of the first handsets from Nokia to feature the latest Symbian OS. This has had a major design revamp to bring it into line with current competition and this is reflected in the experience offered by the C6-01. First of all, the C6-01 has become much more social with social network integration being a key design ingredient. Information from sites like Facebook and Twitter is automatically pooled an integrated with the phones homescreen providing you with a quick rundown of what´s going down online.

 

Another change has been aimed at the Symbian developer community, and it is hoped that these changes will make it much easier and more appealing for people to develop apps for Symbian. While Symbian already boasts a fantastic range of apps, available on the C6-01 through the Ovi Store, it is hoped that this new change will bring it into line with Symbian´s main competitors.

 

With a spacious AMOLED screen the C6-01 is a superb device for watching all manner of videos, either copied from your home computer, downloaded or streamed from online websites. The high resolution allows you to enjoy HD video, and HD video capturing is also supported through the phone´s 8 megapixel camera. On top of this the C6-01 provides you with Web TV, so that you can access channels like BBC, CNN and National Geographic wherever you happen to be.

 

Entertainment is not limited to video as there is also excellent music support. You can copy over your own music collection to the C6-01 through USB or download new music from Ovi Music. There is support for DRM files and the C6-01 can provide you with over 32GB of storage space with microSD cards. When not content with listening to your own music you can tune into the latest hits through the FM radio.

 

Other entertainment features include touchscreen games with 3D graphics support, with a number of games included, and many more downloadable through the Ovi Store. There are many messaging features available including SMS, MMS and email, with emails from multiple email accounts being pooled into a single inbox. The C6-01 also supports various instant messaging clients to give you quick and instant textual chat to your contacts.

 

As well as the main camera recording HD video it takes superb photos, with dual LED flash and numerous features like geo-tagging to make use of. There is also a secondary camera on the front of the phone for making video calls, although this is VGA rather than HD.

 

The C6-01 should not be confused with the C6, released slightly earlier, although they are similar phones. The main differences are the C6´s QWERTY keyboard and an improved camera and OS for the new C6-01.
