Nokia E71 Phone Review

Nokia E71 deals

Nokia´s long awaited successor to the E61 has arrived, say hello to the E71. First thing we noticed was that the E71 has been on a serious diet, losing the rugby player sized breadth that the E61 had. The E71 is now a super slim sexy number, as slim as the iPhone and 2.3mm thinner. With a solid metal back and chrome trimmed front, the E71 has had a makeover in so many ways including the transflective flat screen allowing equally good viewing both indoors and in sunlight. Nokia have also done wonders with the key board bettering the keyboards of the Blackberry Bold and the HTC S620 by rubberizing the keys to avoid slipping and have domed them so as to negate the issue of pressing multiple keys.

The E71 uses the S60 symbian operating system meaning very little waiting time when using applications and navigating the menu´s, defeating what has been a common problem for so many Windows Mobile devices, also resulting in a dramatically longer battery life.

As with all new smartphones, a built in GPS receiver comes as standard, the E71 being no exception but the E71 uses A-GPS, assisted GPS, using the mobile phone cells for a faster acquisition of signal, especially indoors with only marginal amounts of sky, a very impressive feat.

Phone looks good, feels good and looks liek a strong contender against the blackberry. but similarities end there as its a nightmare to use. Extremely fiddly when setting up the email. Difficult to find even the simplest of things vai the menu such as status of battery life. I had to speak to my service provider, my companies IT helpdesk and finalyy Nokia directly before I finally managed to get the Mail for Exchange to work.
