O2 XDA Ignito

Overall

The Ignito is basically the HTC Touch Diamond but rebranded for release on the O2 network... which means that the Ignito is a very fine phone indeed. Featuring the latest version of Windows Mobile you can be sure this will handle all the Office-based, email and other internet tasks you could think to throw at it. Add to that the fact that, in many people´s eyes, this is a better looking phone than the iPhone, and you can see why it´s so popular.

Details

The Touch Diamond is HTC’s flagship Smartphone model and just about the best Windows Mobile device available right now. Featuring the fantastic TouchFlo 3D interface (or skin) that sits on top of the Win Mo platform, this thing impresses from the moment you turn it on. In fact, it impresses even before you turn it on because it´s ultra compact and lightweight in design, being both thinner and lighter than the new iPhone 3G. And yet the high quality finish makes the thing feel completely solid. And once the juice is on, the 2.8-inch screen is as bright and clear as anything else out there. At 2.8” it´s slightly smaller than the iPhone, but high density of pixels on the VGA display (640 x 480) means you´ll barely notice.

It´s also worth noting that the stylus is hidden in the bottom right corner, again the great design meaning you barely notice it. It´s also housed magnetically, meaning that when you go to reinsert it, it´s sucked back into place in a very satisfying way.
The TouchFlo interface is rich in animation and every gesture and touch that you make is recognised almost immediately (although there can be some lagging when you´ve a few different applications running. Although it´s the case in many handsets now, the sweeping of photos from left and right is particularly impressive.
The device also comes pre-installed with Google Maps (which works fantastically with the onboard GPS), Opera Browser (our current favourite mobile browsing software) and other Windows Live apps. There are of course countless other apps out there for you to download.
If you´re going to be using this phone for business or other types of work, then you´ll be very happy to know that of the compatibility with all Office documents. This means you can not only receive, send and view your Powerpoint, Excel or Word docs, but also edit them on-screen.

Conclusion

Want an iPhone without having to buy an iPhone?! Then look no further. The Ignito is a great product and if you look hard enough, you´ll find it available on a great deal too.
