The Samsung Ch@t B3410W is a slide-out QWERTY phone designed for social networking fans on a tight budget.

 

 

An upgraded version of the Samsung B3410, the Samsung Ch@t B3410W has the same chunky exterior as the original. The chunkiness is due to the full QWERTY keyboard which sits behind the 2.6 inch screen and can be slid out when you want to speed up messaging and online chatting – which, as the “@” part of the name suggests, is what this mobile phone focuses on.

 

The combination of a touchscreen and physical keyboard is popular, especially with those keen on mobile social networking. Just like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, the Ch@t lets you press and swipe on-screen as well as type messages on a keyboard.

 

The central upgrade of the Samsung Ch@t B3410W handset is the inclusion of Wi-Fi, which means you can access the internet for free. For a phone designed for social networking, this is a great addition – and is supported by the inclusion of various widgets like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Simply press on the widget you want, to launch the app, letting you chat online quickly and easily.

 

The TouchWiz interface lets you customise the screens with the widgets, displaying them in the order you want. You’ll find the usual features on this handset that have become fairly standard on mobile phones including a basic camera (2-megapixels), a music player and FM radio, Bluetooth and USB connections. For a basic device, the inclusion of a 3.5mm audio jack is a bonus, though; as is the DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine) technology so your music is played with a good sound quality. The music player also features the Find Music function which identifies tracks from a mere snippet of a recording, telling you the name of the artist and album.

 

 

The inclusion of Wi-Fi is good but there is still no support for 3G.
