Samsung Omnia 2 i8000
Details
The follow-up to last year´s massively successful Omnia i900, the Omnia 2 (or II) i8000 is a high-end smartphone that packs in every great feature you could imagine. With Windows Mobile 6.1 (upgradeable to 6.5 as soon as that launches), GPS with pre-loaded navigational software, the fastest possible 3G and WiFi connectivity and everything else you expect from a phone in this sector, the Omnia 2 i8000 will not disappoint.
But it´s the screen that really sets this thing apart. At 3.7", with 480 x 800 pixels and made using the latest AMOLED technology, this simply has to be seen to be believed. Whether running the fantastic mediaplayer for videos or playing fully 3D games or even just navigating the TouchWiz UI, you won´t be able to get enough of just how crisp, clean and detailed the screen is.
But it´s not just the technology, the phone itself is a stunner too. Even though it´s large in height and width (due to the screen, obviously), it´s still only 12mm thick (or should we say thin). For a smartphone with this much going on that´s something special.
The TouchWiz User Interface is also something special. Featuring an innovative 3D ´cube´ navigation system and integrating fully with all the benefits of full-touch over physical button use, your fingers will be flipping, scrolling and bouncing between applications and functions in no time. Lots of fun to be had, even whilst doing the most boring of tasks you find yourself using this for.
