Samsung S7070 Diva Review

In a word or two
The Samsung S7070 Diva is a good looking and fun phone designed for women.

The Design
Also known as the Samsung Le Fleur S7070, the Samsung S7070 Diva is part of the Samsung Diva Collection launched in 2010 for female phone users. The collection includes the Samsung S5150 Olivia which has the diamond pattern on its exterior too, although the Samsung S7070 only has it on its back and in white instead of the reflective grey of the S5150.

The touchscreen on the Samsung S7070 is 2.8 inches and responsive to your finger swipes and taps. The layout of the keys beneath the screen is similar to the Samsung Blade phone, with the call and call end keys either side of the main menu key. On the Samsung S7070, the central key has a gem-like appearance which enhances its feminine status in the mobile world.

The design of the phone is pleasing with curved edges and a simple look at the front, and distinctive back. The embossed nature of the Samsung S7070’s back means it both looks pretty and is easier to keep hold of.

Samsung S7070 Specifications
For communication, the Samsung S7070 is straightforward and enjoyable. You can text message, picture message, email or message via a social networking site. A number of email accounts can be established on the phone, so you can manage both work and personal accounts on the move. There is support for popular websites including Facebook and MySpace, and you can add the relevant icons onto your home screen for instant access. The Java support also means you can download further applications such as Yahoo and Gmail, as well as games.

When you have all the applications you want, it may then be fun to organise the icons how you wish. The TouchWiz user interface on the Samsung S7070 ensures you navigate the phone in a logical manner. Each icon can be dragged onto your home screen or from it and into the main taskbar so it is out of sight, by pressing and holding down the individual icon until it vibrates and then moving it accordingly. You can even drag the network name from the main screen, hiding it in the taskbar instead.

The camera inbuilt on the Samsung S7070 is decent with 3.15-megapixels, autofocus, video mode, blink detection, face detection and Smile shot. There is also a Lomo Effect mode for turning normal photos into high-contrast pieces of art. The music player is equally good with the option to sort media by artist, album, composer or genre, as well as create playlists.

As the Samsung S7070 has been designed for the female audience there are some special features including a “wish list” which lets you prepare for your next shopping trip by listing the items you want, price, location etc.

Considerations
The Samsung S7070 phone does not support 3G or Wi-Fi.

Verdict
For a good looking mobile phone with some female-oriented features, the Samsung S7070 Diva is a good choice. Apart from the lack of 3G, the phone is both fun and functional with email, camera, FM radio, Facebook and TouchWiz interface.
