The Samsung i780 is one of the newest phones to grace the mid to high price range in the market. Though the Samsung i780 does fall in this range, it is definitely one of the cheapest phones to be HSDPA enabled. Phones from other brands with similar features such as the HTC TyTN II are much more expensive.

The i780 is definitely one of the slimmest phones in the market when you consider it along with its features. It is surprisingly even thinner than the HTC Touch, which is very impressive. The design of the phone does disappoint somewhat as it does not look as sleek and stylish as the Touch. It looked very much like the Samsung i600 which made it look less expensive than it actually is. The display is very nice and large allowing media to be viewed on it quite comfortably. Navigating through menus is a breeze, seeing that the keypad is quite comfortably laid out. The keys are well spaced preventing the user from pressing more than one key when typing out messages and emails. Even simple thumb typing is both easy and efficient. The optical joystick replaces the normal directional pad that is seen on other devices. This is both intuitive and easy to get used to making it a joy to scroll through even the most mundane web pages! The camera shortcut key is on the side of the phone. The phone also allows you to play music when you are accessing the other applications of the phone.

 

Overall, the phone is a good buy for anyone looking for a good Smartphone with decent features. The GPS navigation only increased the utility of the phone even more, making it an excellent navigation tool. This increases its appeal to an even broader audience. The only disappointment in this phone is its mediocre camera. This should have been better seeing that even mid range phones such as the Nokia 5610 come with 3.15 MP cameras. The phones lack depth and resolution, making even shots take in bright light quite blurry.
