Are you thinking of replacing your aging mobile phone?  Or are you someone who likes advanced high-tech gadgets and cool stuff?  Then check out the Samsung F490.

Released just recently on January 10, 2008, Samsung’s F490 is a 3.2 inches full touch-screen phone with a 16:9 wide screen.  It can provide a panoramic view of your videos or pictures, as well as offer a large screen for internet surfing.  Samsung embedded the Google search and also integrated the optimized full browser for its web pages in horizontal and vertical views.

It has a five megapixel digital camera which is able to record MPEG4 videos and QVGA resolution display at 15 frames per second.  The downside is that there is no autofocus, which is a feature that most camera phones have.  It is also great that this mobile phone has a good keyboard tactile feedback, which is a feature needed for your comfort and ease of use.

The F490 is the improved version of the Armani phone, which is also designed and manufactured by Samsung.  They have the same operating system but with new software to improve a host of patches and bug fixes to make the phone run smoothly.  It has large menu icons to satisfy those with unclear or limited visions.  The software is also said to be very user friendly so it can be used by those with limited technical knowledge.

This phone is a 3.5G with HSDPA.  This means that you can transfer video and music files from the internet to your phone effortlessly.  After all, it was the Samsung president himself who said that the F490 can be a solution for those who always want to use the internet whenever and wherever they want.  However, the downside is that there is no integrated Wi-Fi connection feature, which a phone of this kind should be able to offer.

This mobile phone has 120Mb of internal memory, which is really low, but the good news is that you can expand this anytime to a whopping 4GB with a MicroSD card.

Samsung is aggressively eating the market share of Nokia and Sony Ericsson in Europe.  The release of this mobile phone might be the right timing, because the touch screen technology is getting more and more popular these days.
