Samsung J600 review

Introduction
The Samsung J600 is a great phone which was released in April of 2007 and has a good range of features including a 1.3 mega pixel camera and an MP3 player. The phone also has internet capabilities so you can send and receive emails with attachments and even use instant messenger. The phone is equipped with an FM radio as well so you can listen to your favourite radio station while you’re on the go. The phone also has a built in hands free system and a T9 dictionary for sending SMS and MMS messages from your mobile phone.

Specifications
The Samsung J600 is a great phone and has a good range of features available for personal users. The phone has little or no features for business users so I’d suggest this phone is only bought by personal users who like entertainment features. The phone has a camera but I have to say it’s a bit of a small camera at only 1.3 mega pixels which is unusual for a phone that was released in 2007. The phone has a relatively small display as well at only 1.9 inches so as far as viewing high quality movies and photos on this screen I think you’d struggle a little bit.

The features available on this phone are quite limited but they do offer a basic set of applications for someone who is new to mobile phones and wants a smart looking phone that is stylish. The phone itself is good looking and the features available include the camera which can take photos and record video and the MP3 player which is compatible with MP3, AAC, WAV and MIDI files so you can easily listen to your favourite tracks while you’re on the go. The phone also has an FM radio which allows you to listen to your favourite radio station while you’re on the go.

The battery on this phone is quite good but I have to admit could be better, talk time will last about 2.5 hours and standby time will last about 250 hours so it’s not all that great. Considering this phone was released only last year it seems that it is lacking in features quite a bit. The range of features available is limited and the style of the phone doesn’t appear to match the internal software at all. All in all, I’m not a huge fan of this phone.

Looks
The phone has a good look to it and is available in three colours; blue, silver and pink so you can choose a colour that will suit you best. The phone is a slide style phone and offers a sleek and slim line design which means it looks great. The phone itself is 97mm by 44mm by 15mm in dimensions and only weighs 85 grams so is very small and lightweight. You can expect some major compliments if you’re using this phone because its high quality design is an eye catcher. The style of the exterior of the phone is great and it offers good looking and smooth lines.

The phone is available in three colours which is good because it means you can choose from the colours which suit you. I always like it when a phone is available in more than one colour but I have to say that it would have been nice to see this phone in black. The blue and pink colours are very bright and somewhat garish so I wouldn’t suggest you choose these colours if you’re using the phone to show of your sophisticated side or even a stylish and sleek side. In my opinion the silver is the better option for colour on this phone.

Design
The design of the internal software isn’t as good as the external design of the phone and I have to say that apart from the phone having very limited features it doesn’t seem to be designed very well either which is unusual for Samsung. I think to be honest because this is such a budget phone and offers really only the most basic of features they have skimped on design aspects as well. The internal software runs well but it’s not brilliant and there isn’t really too much to say about the design because there’s barely anything on the phone.

Overall
All in all, this phone has a very limited range of features and I have to say that for a 2007 mobile phone I’m not sure that Samsung should have even bothered with this. The features are limited the camera is nothing special and even the MP3 player is rather lame. I am aware that this phone is supposed to be a budget phone and is supposed to be simple but I think they could have done better by integrating a higher spec camera and even a few features such as a flash would have helped this phone be a little better than it is.

The features that are available are ok but they’re not great and the layout of the phone is more than just basic – it’s boring. I’d say that for a basic user who is looking for a really simple phone that can help you make a few phone calls here and there then this phone would be good but other than that it’s at a loss. The camera is barely worth having and the MP3 player is rather pointless when you consider the memory available on this phone (20MB). You would only be able to fit a couple of songs on here before the application speed would be affected.

Overall, I’d say this phone is really more for people who are either completely new to mobile phones or who have lost interest in mobile phones and just want something that is simple. The features on this phone are very basic and to be honest are pretty pointless – you’d be better off spending less money to buy a phone without a camera or MP3 player if you really want something basic – but then again, the features are there for a reason I suppose.
