Sony Ericsson G502 deals Sony Ericsson G502 is a device that seemed to target mostly the European market since its release in the mid 2008. According to sources the G502 appears to be Sony Ericsson’s least expensive device to carry HSDPA connectivity so far. G502 offers tri-band GSM coverage at 900/1800/1900MHz and 2100MHz HSDPA 3G connectivity to its users. And just like in the K660i, the G502 allows users to view updates from their favorite websites on the standby screen without having to pull out the browser or RSS feed reader. It’s a mid level phone which contains a decently competent number of features and delivers good services to its users. The G502 is most commonly compared with the K660 due to having almost similar features but the latter may tend to be a bit more expensive as it offers slightly more features.

Looking at the specifications, the G502 carries a moderate 2inch 256k colors, 240x320 pixels resolution TFT screen, a 2megapixels camera (1600x1200pixels resolution) but with no autofocus. Phone book can contain up to 1000 entries with the photo call feature and call registry can hold up to 30 entries on the received, dialed and missed calls. Connectivity is offered by Class 10 GPRS/EDGE and 3.2Mbps HSDPA. There’s also v.2 Bluetooth with A2DP and a v.2 USB port so that you can synchronize your phone with your pc. The G502 uses NetFront HTML browser 3.4 like the one in the K660. Sometimes the G502 is compared with Motorola RAZR maxx V6 as it too is a reasonably priced HSDPA device although it uses Opera browser instead of the NetFront.

G502 offers some other features also such as the music player which will play mp3s, MPEGs and many other audio formats. The slider Samsung F330 is another phone that competes with the G502 and may appeal more to the customers who happen to be music lovers thanks to its dedicated music keys to go with the same HSDPA features as the G502. Further the G502 offers push email service with its Activesync support along with the normal SMS, MMS and email functions. Other standard services include Google Maps, picture editor & blogging and TrackID music recognition. Along with all these features you can keep your phone on standby mode for 340hrs in 2G mode, 330hrs in 3G mode and experience 10hrs talk time in 2G and 5hrs talk time in 3G.

G502 looks quite attractive with its unique design and eye-catching placement of the soft keys. It’s of the candy bar form and is available in Champagne Black, Brilliant Hazel and Celerity Red colors. It carries the 103x46x13.5mm dimensions as weighs 83.5g so will be ideal to carry around in your hand.

All in all, G502 is a capable phone which has delivered its services just as promised before release and it has performed to back up its specs. Further it’s got all the features necessary in a mobile phone that score high where it matters. The affordable price tag is going to earn it the well deserved spot in the mass market as an internet capable mobile phone.
