Sony Ericsson Zylo Early Review

In a word or two
The Sony Ericsson Zylo is a Walkman mobile designed for listening to music in high sound quality, as well as social networking, on the move.

The Design
As you would most likely expect from a handset that belongs to the Sony Ericsson Walkman range, the Sony Ericsson Zylo is as aesthetically pleasing as it is aurally pleasing.  The Zylo is a compact slider phone with a 2.6 inch screen, and comes in Jazz Black, Chacha Silver and Swing Pink.

With a curved frame and easy-access call-and-music-control buttons below the screen, the Zylo is ideal if music ranks on a par with communication when it comes to mobile phones. You can control the Walkman feature straight from the front of the handset, and you can even listen to music and chat at the same time.

Sony Ericsson Zylo Specifications
Alongside the Spiro, the Zylo is the latest Walkman mobile from Sony Ericsson – following the W205 and the W395. There is naturally a heavy emphasis on its music abilities, which include TrackID for identifying the song and artist name of a track you hear but can’t recall, and access to PlayNow music store. The Zylo also debuts the FLAC format which enhances the sound quality of the music you listen to.

Sounds are pre-installed on the phone so you can pretend to be pretty much anywhere when friends, family and colleagues call. Sounds include street noise, restaurant and work noises. And there is an FM radio onboard the Zylo for musical variety.

Sony Ericsson also placed an emphasis on social networking within the design of the Zylo. The phone has support for 3G and offers access to sites like Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and Picasa.

There is a 3.2-megapixel camera inbuilt on the Zylo which has a 2x digital zoom and features geo-tagging and a video option. Thanks to the clever design, you can upload your videos straight onto YouTube within a couple of clicks.

Considerations
Pricing has yet to be unveiled by Sony Ericsson although the Zylo is said to be affordable.

Verdict
If high quality music is important to you on your mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson Zylo promises to be ideal. The design is attractive and functional, and social networking ability sits alongside the Walkman capabilities. Full review is coming soon.
