Sony Ericsson C905 review

The new Sony Ericsson C905 is a great new camera phone with an amazing 8.1 mega pixel camera with Xenon flash. This great new phone is Sony’s best camera phone and offers the features of a fully functioning digital camera. You can use the Smart Contrast feature to balance colour and the Focus option to focus on people’s faces and other objects which make this phone rival the specs of some of today’s stand alone digital cameras.

Sony Ericsson has always been known for their high tech gadgets and although this phone is not yet released – it is going to be well worth the wait. The Sony Ericsson C905 is going to be one of the best camera phones on the market. It is full to the brim with amazing features and is also easy to use – even if you’ve never had a mobile phone before you will easily be able to learn the features and controls of this phone in a matter of minutes.

The Specifications

The phone itself is 104.0 x 49.0 x 18.0 mm in measurements and weighs only 136g and although the phone is sleek it’s also very strong. The phone is available in three colours; Ice Silver, Copper Gold and Night Black which makes the phone suitable for everyone and anyone and you can customise it to suit you even more – you can use the high speed internet connections to download content such as wallpapers, ringtones and themes to customise your phone to make it best suit you and your needs.

The phone has a built in 8.1 mega pixel camera which is ideal for capturing those moments in your life. The camera has a great range of features including auto focus, 16x digital zoom, image stabilizer, xenon flash, red eye reduction and more. You can also use Face Detection which is a great feature for automatically focusing on people’s faces in photos. You can also use the camera to record videos and the video also has a flash light and video stabilizing. You can also use the BestPic application on this phone which allows you to take 9 pictures in one second and then you can choose the best shot and delete the rest – this comes in very handy if you are trying to take a motion photo or an action shot. The phone is also equipped with photo blogging which enables you to upload a photo to your very own live blog with just one click. This is great for sharing your experiences and your friends and family will have access to it instantly so they can see what you’re up to.

The phone is also equipped with aGPS which is great because it means your phone is your very own pathfinder and can lead you to just about any destination in the world. Assisted GPS means you will receive turn by turn instructions to lead you to the location of your choice. You can use this no matter where you are in the world and with Google Maps you can literally find your way to just about any destination in the world. You can have comfort in knowing you will never get lost again. This is a great feature if you travel a lot to new and exciting places because your phone can tell you where to go and what you can find.

The phone also has a great media centre which is full to the brim with great features such as the Music player which is compatible with MP3 and more formats. You can arrange your music in Album Art meaning all you need to do to find your favourite song is look for the album cover – as if you were flicking through CD’s at home. The phone is also equipped with Bluetooth Stereo which means you can use your headset wirelessly using Bluetooth connections. You can also take advantage of the PlayNow function which allows you to download all your favourite music and videos from the web in just a few clicks. You can also use the great feature called Track ID which allows you to record a few seconds of a music track and Sony will then tell you the artist and song title. This is great if you hear some music on TV or in a bar and can’t remember or you don’t know who it’s by.

In terms of connectivity, this phone has great access to the internet using HSDPA high speed internet connections. You can search for and download content in a matter of seconds and because the phone also has Wi-Fi capabilities it means you can achieve even faster downloads by hooking up to high speed broadband hot spots. You can use the email client to send and receive emails with attachments and because of the high speed internet this can be done very quickly.

This phone has it all and is the ideal phone for someone who loves technology. You can use this phone for almost anything and because of the high tech specs on this phone I can almost guarantee it will be one of the most popular phones around once it is released. This phone is highly suited to someone who is on the go a lot because the high quality camera, aGPS and email functions allow for you to always be in touch with the world no matter where you are; Europe, USA, Asia – you name it you’ll be able to find your way.

Sony Ericsson has always made high quality phones but the C905 has to be one of the best I’ve seen. It’s high quality, full to the brim with easy to use features and is ideal for just about anyone. You can use it for business and/or pleasure and because it’s sophisticated and flash looking you can show it off to your friends, family and colleagues. It’s a beautiful design and also is full of amazing features – it’s a dream come true for anyone who loves Sony Ericsson Camera phones because it’s the best one yet.

I was always a fan of SE, and just the other day bought a Samsung U900. Because of the low ring volume I went back to a SE. C905 is twice the price (almost) as a U900, and although the C905 is generally good, it has some big disappointments specially for the price. The first disappointment is that the camera for video calls is at the back of the phone which is totally useless. So, if you make a video call you will not be able to see each other at the same time. The other disappointment is the modem function. This can only be used in my case if you switch of the 3G phone function. U900 was much better here. The last disappointment was with obtaining the settings for the phone on the internet. SE tells you on their site that they will sms this to you. I tried this by using various (countries) sites, but untill now I did not receive any settings. Obviously this service doesnot work, I hope SE will improve on this

Seems like an excellent phone but I can't seem to find out how to transfer all my contacts from my Nokia SIM, to my C905. You can't just swap SIM cards, the C905 won't allow it. Can somebody help me please?

I was also tearing my hair out trying to get the C905 to accept all of the contacts on my sim card.It kept telling me the sim was empty, which of course it was, as I discovered that my Nokia 6210 stores contact numbers in it's memory rather than on the card. Solution was to copy all of the contacts from the Nokia memory on to it's sim card while still in the old phone, put the sim back in to the new phone which will then read and accept them. C905 is a great phone, but I am having trouble at the moment not being able to get on to the internet, despite having settings sent to me by Sony Ericsson. Maybe someone might have some ideas here?

Having now woned this phone for a year, I am fairly happy with it, the camera is great and the music player is good too, all the features I have used seem to be good. I do find the internet a tad dodgey on it. The worst things about this phone is the ear piece, two weeksafter I got my first one, it blew, and then again on a new one 3 months later. Also, there are so many small parts too it that everything breaks off it, i have 2 friends who have the same problems, the screen has gone on one of our 3 phones, and on mine there is a crack near the battery, the sides of the slide opener for the camera have come off, which is sharp and has cut me!! (on both sides) and this also happened on my other friends phones. Also, if you try to send a group text out, it sends as a picture message when you select 2 or more contacts, which means you get charged more, and some of your friends may not be able to see the message. Dispite these problems we have all had the phone is very good.
