The T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2 is a smart-looking mobile phone with a touchscreen and core communication features.

 

 

This phone is designed for affordable communication, and costs less than £50 on Pay As You Go tariffs. For the money, the T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2 has a modern design that is far more sophisticated than the original Vairy Touch handset. The screen has been increased in size to 2.8 inches and there are only two touch-sensitive keys below the screen – which lends the device a clean, elegant look.

 

The T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2 is a good sized mobile phone and is only 12.5mm in thickness. With a weight of just 83g, the Vairy Touch 2 equates to a great little phone to pop in your pocket or bag and keep on you for making calls or sending texts. Unlike high-end smartphones like the iPhone 3G S, the phone does not require almost-constant charging and lasts up to 300 hours on standby. So whether you want the phone as your only handset or as a spare, it’s economical to buy and to run.

 

As the screen on the T-Mobile phone is resistive, you’ll need to press fairly firmly to open apps and launch website links. However, the handset comes with a stylus so even the smallest of presses can be made with accuracy.

 

 

While the screen on the Vairy Touch 2 is in the same league as phones including the ZTE Racer, the internal technology is not. Built to be basic, you can expect the main abilities of a mobile phone to be covered but not the extras that come with handsets like the HTC Desire. You can make calls on the T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2 and the battery has capacity for up to almost 6 hours talk time, so you can chat freely. Text messaging and picture messaging are also supported and there is a WAP 2.0 browser for getting online.

 

The Vairy Touch 2 comes with an MP3 player and a microSD card slot which means you can add your own music to the phone and listen on the move using a Bluetooth-enabled wireless headset. There is an FM radio onboard for listening variety.  

 

For entertainment, the Vairy Touch 2 comes with games pre-installed as well as a 2-megapixel camera and video. There is no flash on the camera but in daylight, you can capture scenery and friends in quick, fun snaps – and share using Bluetooth, MMS or the microUSB port to transfer to your PC.

 

When it comes to communication, the T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2 stores your last 30 dialled, missed and received calls. This way, you can keep track of who’s calling you and who you haven’t spoken to in a while.

 

 

There is no 3G or Wi-Fi support on the handset.

 

 

As a first touchscreen device, the T-Mobile Vairy Touch 2 is a cheap little handset that will let you stay in touch, take basic photos and listen to music. The features may be simple but they do allow you to communicate and engage.
