Samsung-Omnia-2-I8000According to Samsung, the third quarter of 2009 is when they expect to release the new Samsung Omnia 2 I8000 mobile. The time has finally come for us to get our hopes up as this means the Omnia 2 I8000 should be hitting store shelves in a month or two.

Although this mobile may share its name with the Samsung i900 Omnia, the Omnia 2 I8000 is actually more of a descendant to the highly regarded Samsung i8510 INNOV8 which also gives priority to imaging.

Features
Samsung-Omnia2With dimensions of 118 x 59.6 x 11.9 and a weight of 117 grams, the Omnia 2 I8000 has a very sleek and stylish design. Much of its front panel is dominated by its 3.7-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen display (65K colours and has a pixel ratio of 480 x 800).

There will be three versions of the Omnia 2 I8000, the only difference being the internal memory. There will be 2, 8, and 16-Gigabyte internal memory versions of the device, but all three’s microSD card slot can accommodate up to 32GB of external memory. The Omnia 2 I8000’s camera is reputable at 5 Megapixels with a dual power LED flash and a 2592 x 1944 maximum pixel ratio. It will also come equipped with the latest camera functions such as autofocus, geo-tagging, mobile blogging, and face & smile detection. You can also capture videos with a pixel rate of 720 x 480 @30 fps.

Other Functions
The Omnia 2 I8000 will be a quad-band GSM device and will work in the HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 networks for 3G. It will also use an ARM 1176 800 MHz processor to run the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system.

If we are to follow previous pricing trends, you should expect the Samsung Omnia 2 I8000 to have a launch price that’s a tad below the 500-pound mark.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | Lengthy Conversations and More with the Nokia E52]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/nokia-phones/lengthy-conversations-and-more-with-the-nokia-e52.html 03 July 2009 Nokia-E52-GoldenThe main selling point of the Nokia E52 is undoubtedly the 8 hour talk time and up to 28 days standby period that the device provides. With this latest E Series phone from Nokia, we may never have to worry about call interruption again. Coupled with the extended talk time is the noise cancellation system that makes for higher sound clarity and acuity even in noisy environments.

There are other laudable features of the phone that enhance one’s productivity. This device is 3G enabled which provides us with a rich online experience. It is also HSUPA, WLAN and WiFi enabled. It is a quad-band phone that has GPRS and EGSM technologies. Connectivity is indeed fully packed on this device.

It is a highly reliable work phone as it comes with Mobile VPN and Call Connect so you can easily view corporate websites and so you are connected to the company’s phone lines. Local connectivity and synchronization is supported by Bluetooth, a USB port and Microsoft ActiveSync, amongst others. E-mail is decidedly more efficient with the Nokia Messaging application as well as IBM Lotus Traveller and Mail for Exchange software. You can choose from two screen modes, personal and business, so you can separately manage your private and work lives.

Whilst the Nokia E52 is primarily a business phone, it is worth mentioning the multimedia features that it has. Its 3.2MP camera has full focus, LED flash and 4x digital zoom. Its main camera can record videos of up to 15 fps. It has a music and media player which allows you to adjust settings for the equalizer, stereo widening and so on.

The Nokia E52, along with the other E Series phones released by Nokia this year (such as the E55 and E75), should give its competitors a run for their money. The E52 is slated for release during the year’s second half at an estimated price tag of €245.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | Entering the 12-Megapixel Arena with the Samsung M8920]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/samsung-phones/entering-the-12-megapixel-arena-with-the-samsung-m8920.html 03 July 2009 Samsung-M8920Following in the footsteps of the Sony Ericsson Satio and the Samsung M8910 Pixon12, the Korea-based telecom giant has come up with another super powerful camera mobile that is able to snap photos at an amazing 12 Megapixels. Yup, you read it right; that’s a mind-boggling 12 Megapixels. Mobile phones are now entering a whole new arena in terms of their cameras and these new of devices have snappers that are even more powerful than most commercial digital cameras. Here’s what Samsung has pulled out of their hat.

Kept on the Down Low
The information available on the new Samsung M8920 is currently limited and this includes the product’s projected launch price. However, most of our sources state that we should expect a third quarter release. This means the new M8920 should start hitting stores by August or September of this year.

Enhanced Pixon12
All roads point to the fact that the M8920 will be a beefed up version of Samsung’s Pixon12. Given the handsets’ model numbers, it is likely that the M8920 will share most of its features with its predecessor. If anything, we should expect the new model to be a more powerful device that will sport enhanced features.
Surely the M8920 will be a quad-band 2G device and should work in HSDPA 900 / 2100 over the 3G network. GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, and Bluetooth connectivity should also be present. Also expect it to have Samsung’s famed user interface.

The only photo available online is a shot from behind of the M8920’s camera so there is no certainty yet on how exactly the mobile will look like. However, chances are this new mobile will not be too different with the Pixon12 in terms of design.

Out of This World Snapper
Aside from having an ultra powerful 12-Megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, the M8920 should also have the advanced camera features present in the M8910 such as a smart auto mode, wide dynamic range, smile, face & blink detection, geo-tagging, and touch autofocus tracking.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | The Samsung I7500: In Good Company]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/samsung-phones/the-samsung-i7500-in-good-company.html 03 July 2009 i7500Although the Samsung I7500 is yet to be released (we’ll need to wait until June), it is already being tipped to have the potential to be one of the best Smartphones of 2009. With a 3.2-inch AMOLED touch screen, the I7500 remains faithful to Samsung’s slim and sleek designs by having a mere 11.9 mm of thickness. It also has a 5-Megapixel camera and boasts up to 40 GB of memory. It supports the latest versions of data transfer technologies such as GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, 3G, and WLAN, to name a few. According to sources, the launch price of the I7500 will be £260.

The distinctive feature of this Smartphone is that it is one of a select few that is powered by Google’s operating system. The Samsung I7500 will be making use of the Android v1.5 which is deemed to be a revolutionary OS. However, Samsung has already announced its intention to release two more Smartphones; only this time they’ll be running version 2 of the Google OS.

Bigfoot
Both the Samsung Bigfoot and the Samsung Spica are said to be “trimmed down” versions of the I7500. This means that once they’re released, they should come at a cheaper price.

True to its name, the Bigfoot is bulkier than the I7500 with a 16.3 mm thickness. Similar to the Spica, the Bigfoot is equipped with a 3-Megapixel camera and a 3-inch screen. The main disadvantage of these two Smartphones is that it only has 1GB of internal memory and you’ll need to make use of a microSD memory card to expand the storage space.

Spica
The 2G and 3G network capabilities of the Samsung Spica, and the Bigfoot as well, are similar to that of the I7500. The Smartphone also has GPS and Wi-Fi capabilities. Aside from the small disparity in size, the only difference of the Spica is that it will be using a TouchWiz GUI instead of the more familiar Android interface.

Both handsets are to be released in the third quarter of this year and their retail prices are yet to be announced. Moreover, the advancements of v2.0 of Android are also unknown as of yet.

Nokia-7020-pinkYou will find that some of the most popular networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook are already bookmarked on the device so this optimises content sharing and keeping in touch with your network of friends. The Nokia 7020 is equipped with a 2 megapixel camera with the Nokia Imaging 09 technology. Video recording of up to 15 frames per second is also possible on this device. If you are a music lover, you can activate the device’s MP3 player or tune into the RDS-supported FM radio. The 7020 has an internal memory of 45MB but you have the option of adding up to 16GB of additional storage capacity via microSD cards.
Nokia made sure that messaging is fully supported on this mobile phone. You can integrate the 7020 with Ovi Mail, Windows Live Mail and Gmail amongst others. It is outfitted with Nokia’s Messaging IM software so you have access to instant messaging accounts on Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and AOL Mail just to mention some. Browsing the Web on the 7020 should prove to be a delightful experience with XHTML, WAP, HTML, HTTP and WML support.

Along with the Nokia 2730 and Nokia 2720, the 7020 is being offered to emerging markets. It is slated to be released in the fourth quarter of 2009 with a price tag of 90 euros.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | A Preview of the Samsung Jet S8000]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/samsung-phones/a-preview-of-the-samsung-jet-s8000.html 02 July 2009 Samsung-JetIn terms of the best Smartphone of 2008, TIME Magazine saw it as a toss-up between the Apple iPhone 3G and the Nokia E71 (with the latter eventually taking the acclaim). The trend carried on in 2009 and mobile phone manufacturers continue to come up with Smartphones that become more and more hi-tech. But then again, non-smart devices also continue to hold their own. Most recently, Samsung has come up with a new mobile that somehow blurs the line between smart and non-smart devices. Get ready for the new Samsung Jet S8000.

A Quick Glance
Samsung-Jet-S8000Although it is true that the Jet S8000 looks like the iPhone, this device is more than just another “iPhone killer.” Aside from having a 3.1-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display (16M colours and 480x 800-pixel resolution), the Jet S8000 also sports an impressive 5-Megapixel camera (with features such as face, smile & blink detection, geo-tagging, and wide dynamic range). It also has other Smartphone-ish features such as Wi-Fi capability, a GPS receiver, and multi-format music and video players.

The Jet S8000 is a quad-band 2G device (GSM 800 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) and will work in HSDPA 900 / 2100 for the 3G network.

TouchWiz Technology
Samsung-Jet-AngleAnother thing that will make you wonder why the Jet S8000 is not a Smartphone is its TouchWiz 2.0 interface that is equipped with Media Gate 3D and Motion UI—features usually reserved for Smartphones of the highest calibre. The former is an intuitive cube UI that allows easy access to multimedia functions such as the FM radio or the Photo Album, while the latter is Samsung’s praise-worthy proprietary user interface.

Availability
The Samsung Jet S8000 was recently released this month and should be available with most network providers in the UK. On the average you should be able to get your hands on one of these for a very reasonable price of around £135.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | The Feature-Loaded Nokia 2730 Classic]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/nokia-phones/the-feature-loaded-nokia-2730-classic.html 01 July 2009 Nokia-2730-classic-blackConsumers belonging to emerging markets have always been one of the biggest target segments of Nokia. Its share of this market has so far been unrivaled and this year, the Finnish company further strengthens its hold onto this audience with a trio of devices that aims to bring the digital world closer to developing areas.

The Nokia 2730 Classic is one of the latest unveiled by the company and the great thing about this mobile phone is that is both affordable (only £70) and feature-rich. For starters, the unit is 3G capable which means users get fast Internet surfing as well as convenient options for connecting with their contacts. This unit comes with innovative, practical applications such as Ovi and Life Tools.

Users of the Nokia 2730 Classic have access to Ovi Share, Ovi Mail and Ovi Contacts, each designed to optimise connections. You can conveniently manage and share media as well as take advantage of e-mail capabilities without the need for a computer. Further, you can harmonize your personal and business information so you are able to adequately keep in step with the pace of life.

The phone is a quad-band device and is also supported by EDGE and GPRS technologies. It is Bluetooth enabled and equipped with a GPS which is pre-installed with Nokia Maps. Other applications available on the unit include Windows Live Messenger, Java MIDP 2.0 and Flash Lite 2.0.

All mobile phones include some form of entertainment and because Nokia understands that this is really an indispensable feature, it has also included a number of multimedia components on the Nokia 2730. You can take photographs with the 2MP camera as well as record and play back videos. It has a music player, an FM radio and pre-loaded games.

The two other Nokia phones launched along with the 2730 are the Nokia 7020 and Nokia 2720. All three will be available for purchase by Q3 2009.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | Going Solar with the New Samsung E1107 Crest Solar]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/samsung-phones/going-solar-with-the-new-samsung-e1107-crest-solar.html 01 July 2009 A Pioneer
Samsung-E1107-Crest-SolarAlthough it may look like other previously released entry-level Samsung handsets such as the Samsung E1100 or the Samsung E1210, the new E1107 couldn’t be more different—in terms of innovation, at least. Yes, they are alike in terms of being purely functional and coming at the cheapest rate possible. However, what sets the Samsung E1107 Crest Solar apart is its new solar power technology. In fact, it is the first commercial mobile released to the market which makes use of this type of renewable energy.

The E1107’s standard Li-Ion 800 mAh battery can be charged the standard way (through a battery charger and a power supply), but you can also simply place it under the sun. By exposing the device to direct sunlight, the battery should gather enough to allow you to make a 10-minute call.

Standard Features
The E1107 is essentially a low-end mobile that is catered for emerging markets. Much like its predecessors the E1107’s functions are on the basic side. This includes dual-band capabilities in the GSM network (GSM 900 / 1800), a 1.52-inch CSTN colour display (65K colours and 128 x 128 pixels), an FM radio, and a WAP 2.0 xHTML web browser. The E1107 also has a few additional features such as a built-in flashlight, MP3 ringtones, and an organizer.

Being a purely functional device, you shouldn’t expect the latest technologies on the E1107. It doesn’t have most of the data connectivity capabilities (no HSCSD, EDGE, 3G, WLAN, and Bluetooth support). Similar to other Samsung mobiles in this category, the E1107 also does not sport a built-in camera.

Pricing and Release Date
Weighing only 79 grams with dimensions of 106 x 47 x 15.5 mm, the E1107 Crest Solar is a lightweight device. It is expected to have a launch price of around £36 once it is released towards the latter part of June.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | One for the Ladies: The Sony Ericsson T707 Elle]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/sony-ericsson-phones/one-for-the-ladies-the-sony-ericsson-t707-elle.html 30 June 2009 sony-ericsson-t707Elegant and sleek. These are the qualities Sony Ericsson wants to associate with the new T707 Elle when it used tennis superstar and fashion icon Maria Sharapova to launch this mobile phone. However, once it hits stores sometime in the second quarter of 2009, the T707 will actually come at quite a reasonable price. The actual launch price is unknown but estimates place it around the 90-pound region—quite a bargain for a mobile that has such an affluent image.

Key Features
One of the most impressive features of the Sony Ericsson T707 Elle is that it is not only a Quad-band GSM mobile, but it is also has 3G HSDPA support. Its camera is also quite noteworthy at 3.15-Megapixels and a Cell-ID geo-tagging feature. Aside from its scratch-resistant 2.2-inch screen, it also has a secondary external monochrome display.

The T707 is a lightweight mobile with dimensions of 93 x 50 x 14.1 mm and weighs only 95 grams. It will come in an array of colour schemes reminiscent of a rainbow, which makes it a perfect accessory for the fashion conscious ladies out there.

Some Disadvantages
There are some criticisms about the T707’s camera. It doesn’t have an autofocus feature or an LED flash which may make it difficult to snap photos at night. Videos captured are also low in resolution as the camera will allow only up to 15fps of recording. Also, the secondary external screen is difficult to view once it is exposed to direct sunlight.

All in all, the T707 is a mobile phone that will provide value for money. Although it may not be as impressive as other models that will be released at around the same time (i.e. Sony Ericsson W508 or the Sony Ericsson W995), the T707 is still a mobile that can stand on its own and is perfect for the ladies that may want their mobiles to be stylish accessory labels.

<![CDATA[Best Mobile Contracts Blog | Swift, Superb Shots with the Samsung Pixon 12]]> http://www.blog.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/samsung-phones/swift-superb-shots-with-the-samsung-pixon-12.html 30 June 2009 Pixon-12Samsung has yet again raised the bar when it comes to camera phones with the soon to be released Samsung Pixon 12, a mobile device boasting of a splendid 12MP capacity camera. A common complaint with camera phones is that you often have to wait for your mobile to save images before you can take the next shot. Not with the Pixon 12.

We don’t know exactly what particular technology was built into the phone but Samsung says you can take the next shot in as short a time as two seconds!

Samsung-Pixon-12-FrontSpeedy capture is by no means the only excellent feature of the camera. Samsung made sure users will be able to take outstanding images so it incorporated face and smile detection technology as well as intelligent focus and Smart Auto mode which allow for selective focusing and auto adjust in accordance with object, background and lighting conditions.

The Pixon 12 sports a 3.1 inch AMOLED touchscreen which makes for vivid displays even as the screen has an optimised energy-saving feature. Very tasteful look, rather like the Samsung Omnia and S8000. The Pixon 12 carries with it full 3G support for an enjoyable online experience. It also has WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity. Internal memory is 150MB, expandable to 16GB so you can store as much content as your heart desires.

Let’s not forget multimedia options. The Pixon 12 has a media player compatible with a range of file formats, just a few of them being DivX, Xvid, WMV, MP3, WMA and a lot more. There’s TV-out capability as well as preloaded games. You can download more games into the phone if that is your preference.

All you eagerly awaiting Samsung fans will be pleased to know you won’t have long to wait as the Pixon 12 is scheduled for release this month. Pricing details will have to follow, though as there is no official word yet on this subject.
