Nokia E72 Customer Reviews
Have been using it for about a month and still haven´t figured out everything yet. Using it for email. to hop on the web, photos and lots of sms. Overall works great and the search function is awesome. Able to search for contact even if I can´t remember her name but can remember a bit of information about her. Camera could be better - still nice to have a camera in my phone so I don´t have to lug around another camera. Able to give voice commands and phone responds. For example, say "call home" and it dials automatically. No complaints.
Not the best looking phone. However it is power-packed with many different useful features.
A real business man´s phone with great battery life and extensive call and group features. Call quality is excellant and push to talk is the best i have experienced. Nokia push email works fine and so does mail for exchange and access to my corporate files is a breeze. Multi tasking is superb - 10 or more applications (sorry, for
iPhonepod toy users that is apps), open all together and instant switch. Nokia just do the simple of operations so well but this E72 takes it to another level. To top it all off when my working week is done I press one button and this phone turns into my weekend personal phone. In my opinion this phone blows away any iPhone or
Blackbury. The iPhone is simply a toy for boys and is no way near the quality and finsh of this Nokia . Once you´re bored of your virtual sprit level and poor battery life or grow up then you will agree that this Nokia is the best hard working phone on the market. The iPhone has one app that lets it down and thats the phone app because thats all it is, a phone app on the ipod toutch with zero call and corporate features. I really like the iPhone but it lacks in many of the things we now take for granted with Nokia and for some of us genuine phone users we simply can´t convert.
The E72 surely looks and feels good, but I have used it only for a week now and has hanged already several times.
Simply brilliant.
I´ve just brought one... All I have to say is "great"!
I´ve owned a Blackberry Curve, owned an iPhone and I would give both 8 and 9 out of 10 respectively. The Nokia E72. Well, let me tell you, Nokia have waited, watched, taken note, tested the E71, done more research, listened a bit more and then to the detriment of Samsung, Blackberry, and iPhone, launched this, the E72. I use my mobile connection for work, rest and play. I have to be honest I have never found a phone I have completely been happy with, it´s always "This phone great but I wish it could do this or do that". With the Nokia E72, I am amazed at the items and functions that is does do. Rating: 12 out of 10.
I have had this phone for two weeks and I love it. The keypad is far superior to a BlackBerry as is the UI and list of features. The Ovi store is a great addition, too. I cannot recommend this phone highly enough.
It´s really a superb upgrade of the E71. I just got mine. I was using the iPhone 3GS 16gb. Was quite disappointed with the battery life. It´s lacking in the Flash programme which is quite a disappointment, too. E72 really saves my day with the ability to trace network reception. The reception is very poor in my office. Hardly get connection when using the iPhone. Now with my new E72, it´s always connected to my network. Congrats Nokia! Great job!
A great all round phone, good for business use or general everyday use. A winner.
I´ve had the Nokia E72 for three weeks now on a contract from Vodafone UK. On first inspection the phone is very good looking, far more polished than the previous E71 which my friend has and it just looks like an antique alongside the E72. I prefer the BlackBerry style full QWERTY keyboard compared to touch screen phones and as a keypad goes it´s quite easy to use. The keys aren´t too small as they are on some of the Blackberry Curves, however I´ve not got sasuage fingers. It came with a 4GB micro SD card which is great as it´s large enough to put a decent amount of music and files on. I stupidly went and bought an 8GB card before the phone arrived not knowing that it shipped with such a large card.
The screen is very high res compared to the E71, however it´s not as glossy or pretty as the iPhone screen - although this is a completely different device. The camera is reasonable yet I don´t plan to use it for that and would never expect a phone to give me the quality of pictures that a dedicated digital camera gives me. My screen also has some dust in the bottom left corner which I don´t remember being there when I got it, but I haven´t removed the case and don´t think you can, so the dust is a bit frustrating as I can see it when it´s very sunny or there is bright light shining on it. I´ve had a few Nokias and they´re renowned for always getting to this as they get to the end of their lives and the casing starts to warp and bend letting in tiny fragments. I´m just going to put up with it.
The phone has crashed on me about three times since I´ve had it. No major reason, perhaps just in the middle of a text or in particular if I´m trying to force sync my emails. Just power off and reboot and then back to square 1. The phone on reboot does seem quick, boots to the home screen in 20 seconds and that with my pin lock included.
The battery I must say is poor. You do need to charge once a day. I reckon I´d get about 35 hours out of it max. I have two email accounts syncing on schedule and have Bluetooth and wireless scanning off all the time, so not an intense usage. I did however screw up my battery when I got it by not doing a full charge by knocking the cable out TWICE.
Mail For Exchange is MUCH better than the edition on the E71. If anyone used to use MFE on the E71 or other E series Nokia you´ll know it requires you to go in and out of the screens making sure the profile is correct and sometime its says ´required data field´ and then you go to put the data in and it clears everything you´ve just entered. MFE is far superior on this phone and allows for a more fluid setup when configuring. Still the same credentials, but just more reliable. I also noticed that its not great on syncing contacts. Mail comes through fine, but if I change a contact´s email address or phone number in Outlook, it takes about 3 days for it to come through to the phone - annoying. Uou can go into the MFE main mailbox menu and choose ´Full ReSync´ or reboot the phone but neither stimulate MFE to do a full query and change on your existing contacts. I had to move mine into a separate contacts folder in outlook and then sync so they deleted off the phone, then move them back into contacts.
There doesn´t seem to be a decent maps / navigator package for the E72. Mine came with Ovi maps which I must say is near on useless. You can only search for destination type such as ´petrol station´ or ´museum´. How utterly useless! I´ve removed Ovi, reinstalled to make sure I haven´t got anything wrong and been through all the menus but it does seem that suite is just completely useless. You can navigate to contact which means if they´ve got a postcode in their contacts, it will search based on this, but I´ve not tried this yet. You also cannot get TomTom for the Nokia which you used to be able to do for the older 8860 and N95 and it worked great. I don´t know why TomTom aren´t developing their app for the Nokia´s anymore.
Finally, on the menu screen there is the Ovi store. I´ve browsed this and to be honest, there is nothing decent in there - nothing like the range and diversity of apps you´ll get on the iPhone and the ones that are there are the common ones such as Shazam and ExpensesManager. I browsed the store for games as often good to have some on the phone whenever you´re bored. The E72 comes with 6 games but they´re all trial ones that work for 60 seconds before timing out. Funnily enough, one of the games is golf and you have to choose your player, player name and golf course tournament which takes about 55 seconds to complete. Then you get 5 seconds of game play before the game ends asking you to go to the vendors website to buy the full game. Yeah, brilliant, I can really get a grasp of the game from 5 SECONDS of sheer useless gameplay!
Awesome device.
Great design and a worthwhile upgrade from my E51. Connecting to internet and BBC home page in 5.5 seconds - 3 seconds faster than a a friend´s latest iPhone. Its ability to collect email from 4 accounts - hotmail - gmail - virgin is as efficient as my partner´s BlackBerry. And however good virtual keyboards have become [all improved over my old MDA Compact 3 !] there is no substitute for a physical keyboard for heavy emailing and texting.
Fantastic phone!
Had a HTC touch HD. This just blows it away.
The Nokia E72. I love my phones and let me tell you this is one hell of a phone. The features are great. The best phone I´ve ever owned so don´t delay, get your Nokia E72 today.
Went back to Nokia after trying other makes and glad I have chosen the E72, I find the features easy to use and the phone is quick and responsive. It has better styling than the BlackBerries, easy to use qwerty keyboard. Well impressed and more than happy, also who needs the iphone when this has a music player on it.
I have this phone and it is fantastic. The most beautiful business phone out there. The Symbian OS is much more handy than the Windows Mobile 6 HTC I had before this. The only drawback is that during calls I can hear a constant noise along the voices. Is annoying but it doesnt affect you.
Battery life for ever. No point having an iPhone if by the time you get to your destination it´s flat! iPhone went back. Used my old E61. Thought it couldnt be beat! Boy was i wrong, well done Nokia!
I have upgraded from an E71 to the E72. The E72 has many improvements and is a good business phone. Improved signal hold in weak signal areas, improved voice clarity and volume, everything works a lot faster due to faster processor, improved battery life. Weaknesses are the GPS takes 5 minutes to find the satellites.and I do not like the the optical nav key. It is too sensitive. The PCsuite software has a bug which will not allow me to update the firnware version. Overall very satisfied. Worth upgrading from the E71.
Great cell phone, with fantastic battery life! Great call quality, email (wherever you are), lots of software, Symbian is a reliable OS... This is a fantastic cell phone. It´s not like iPhone, that is more a multimedia mobile... I recommend!
It´s great, slim and stylish. I´m still not sure what some of the apps are yet and don´t want to start clicking and racking up a huge bill but, hey, the phone´s fab. Definitely a 10/10 from me.
This phone is better and snappier than the E71. The optical navigation key has limited value, as it is too small, and is as easy using the standard navigation key. The only thing that is better with using the optical navigation key is that you can navigate diagonally in the menu. Although the menu has become a bit better and intuitive than E71, I believe there still is some room for improvement. In addition there should be higher flexibility on what you can have on front screen and what it should look like. The internet browser is not very good, so I downloaded the Opera Mini browser which works perfect (given the specs on the phone). With MS Exchange e-mail integration woorks better, as it is possible to syncronize folders without using third-party software. In all this is a good business phone and I can easily recommend it to other users. It remains to see whether the quality is as good in a year as it is today.
Well, I am not a business user but after having a ´Mobile´ in my possesion for nearly 20 years, this is by far the most competant, user friendly device i have ever had the pleasure to use. Download the ´PC suite/OVi music player for magnificent downloads and endless uses. Fantastic... Blew me away, too!
Just got the E72 on upgrade from E66. Absolutely top dog when it comes to the specification. Great feel, good looks, good sized keys even for big fingers like mine! Already set my email account and away we go! Good fast connection, ease of navigation and lots of toys to play with. All in all a great piece of kit - looking forward to exploring all the goodies in store. Get out there and get one tomorrow!!
A nice full faetured business phone. It supports almost all types of media files except avi & flv.
I´ve had this phone for one week. One thing´s for sure, lots and lots of thinking has gone into developing this phone. I have used an iPhone for 2 years and after that a Palm Pre, both touch screen phones but they both had one huge downfall and that downfall is their battery life. I HAVE to charge them every day and by the end of the day, it´s empty. Come the Nokia E72 and that issue is gone. After all this is MOBILE phone. Other features that are very impressive are the joy of typing in this phone. It´s amazing how nokia managed to come up with this. All in all amazing handset and nothing negative to say for now.
Nokia will still be producing phones with exceptional flare long after the nearly rans have fizzled away and become all but forgotten. The design and feel of this handset leaves many of the comparable Blackberrys and similar types in the shade. The handset is sleek, ergonomically and aesthetically pleasing whilst still packing a punch in the practicality stakes. Many sheep will succumb to the urge to have a Blackberry just for the sake of following fashion. If however you need a functional and stylish hanset the E72 is the one to have.
Nokia rule!!
I was very happy and satisfied with my Nokia E71 until I lost it on the beach. I miss it very much! The E72 is a great looker and definitely a better choice than most other phones in the same price range.
I´ve had this phone for a few weeks now. I was dead set on a BlackBerry before but was swayed by a better value contact on this phone. It has everthing you could want on it and it´s simple, solid and quick yet forever entertaining with the ovi store for apps. A must for anyone.
Best of the Best
I dont use the E72 for business purposes but as for personal use. I find this handset amazing, the battery life is extremely good and the apps are easy to use.
At first glance, you might mistake the E72 for any of one of the more pedestrian BlackBerry models, but get closer and Nokia’s attention to detail immediately sets it apart as something different. It’s as much a tool as a work of art. Bright chrome runs around the edges in broad strips, loops around buttons and the speaker in subtle accents, and carries over to a magnificent rear battery cover that could double as a mirror if it weren’t corrugated with fine, etched pinstripes, like the ones you might find on a Zippo lighter or flask. If BlackBerrys are built for a suit pocket, the E72 is meant for a tuxedo, taking class up yet another notch. The only mar on this otherwise gorgeous design would be the rear camera, which bulges out significantly, ruining the otherwise clean look a bit.
