If you like Facebook then you’ll love the HTC Chacha. With a dedicated Facebook button and updated integration, using the social networking site has never been easier. Take photos of your mates on the 5 megapixel camera, and simply press the Facebook button to upload it straight away.
The full QWERTY keypad makes typing messages a breeze, and support for Wi-Fi and 3G means you’ll always stay connected. Sharing photos, music, locations and statuses has never been easier than with the HTC Chacha.
Along with the HTC Salsa the Chacha is one of HTC´s long awaited Facebook phones. Facebook apps and Facebook integration have been available on smartphones for quite some time now with most of the top handsets coming with Facebook support as standard. So what makes the Chacha so special? It is the first phone to feature a dedicated Facebook button built in to the phones design for starters, but also has updated integration for some more recent Facebook features such as Location.
As an example of this feature in operation, you can take a photo with the Chacha´s 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, and then simply press the dedicated Facebook button to have it uploaded straight to your profile. The Chacha comes with excellent support for Facebook´s chat service and it also comes with a BlackBerry-esque QWERTY pad that is excellent for typing away, either through FB Chat, threaded SMS or email.
The Chacha comes with Wi-Fi and 3G connections so that you can easily hook up online to update your status. Having a dedicated Facebook button allows you to easily share photos, music, your location as well as update your status much more quickly than on other smartphones.
The Chacha runs on Google Android 2.4 (Gingerbread), which is a slight update from the Gingerbread found on the Nexus S. This is also combined with the HTC Sense user interface that was made popular on devices such as the HTC Desire. With a 2.6" TFT screen the Sense interface is slightly tweaked from the one found on the Desire´s 3.7" display, although it is beautifully rendered with a high 480 x 320 pixel resolution.
With most smartphones these days coming with integrated Facebook support, or at least with a compatible Facebook app, it is any wonder why there is a need for a Facebook phone. Having a dedicated Facebook button certainly helps in gaining access to Facebook to update your status and also makes it easier to upload photos, the QWERTY keypad is also ideally suited to Facebook usage. Whether the Chacha is for you depends on how much of a Facebook addict you really are.
