HTC 7 Mozart Preview

The Mozart is one of the first batch of Windows Phone 7 handsets from HTC which, as the name might suggest, places particular emphasis on high quality audio. The Mozart offers up high fidelity audio and virtual surround sound with SRS WOW HD among many other top quality audio features.

Featuring the new Windows Phone 7 operating system the Mozart comes with great support for social networking. Information from your social networking accounts, including Facebook and Twitter, can be integrated into the phone´s homescreen providing real time updates over the internet. The interface has had a graphical overhaul since the last version of Windows Mobile making it much more suitable for smartphone use.

The Mozart features a 3.7" Super LCD screen with 16 million colours and WVGA resolution, providing an exceptionally high quality display. This is combined with an accelerometer for auto-rotate features and multitouch input like pinch and zoom provided via the capacitive touch sensitivity. The phone is powered by a high speed 1GHz Snapdragon processor which provides a very seamless interface experience.

Connectivity is provided via 3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS and EDGE, with additional connectivity coming from Bluetooth and USB. MicroSD cards are unfortunately not included and so you are limited to the 8GB internal storage space. This is plenty of room for a fair quantity of music and video however, which you can copy from your home computer or acquire from online. You can also record video clips yourself with the Mozart´s 8 megapixel camera which comes with HD video recording capabilities.

The camera also comes with a xenon flash, autofocus and software features like face detection and geotagging. There is no secondary camera available unfortunately which means that video calls are not really a possibility with the HTC Mozart.

The Mozart is a phone that places emphasis on high quality audio and hence it is no surprise that the media player is of a high quality. A 3.5mm audio jack is available for headphones and the phone features Dolby sound enhancement. For music lovers everywhere this will provide a more high fidelity audio experience than found on most phones but is a feature that is somewhat let down by the fixed storage space.

Ironically, while HTC has tipped this as a music phone by naming it as the Mozart its camera probably stands out more as a feature of interest. The Mozart does indeed offer very high quality audio but could have benefitted enormously from a wider range of music features.
