HTC Salsa deals & review

The HTC Salsa launched alongside the HTC Chacha, is a dedicated Facebook phone. While the Chacha adopts a BlackBerry style form factor with a compact QWERTY keypad beneath a small screen, the Salsa instead opts for a full touchscreen experience. Measuring at 3.4" the screen is more petite than most currently on the market, especially considering the current trend to push past 4". This makes the Salsa much more pocketable than other smartphones as well as having some unique messaging features.

Like the Chacha the thing that really sets the Salsa apart from other phones with Facebook support is that it comes with a dedicated Facebook button. With this button you can update your Facebook status, post on a friend´s wall, or share music and photos. When taking a photo with the 5mp camera you can hit tap the dedicated button to upload the photo to your profile. You can also update your location on Facebook should you wish to do this.

The Salsa runs on Google Android Gingerbread (2.4) which is a slight update from the original Gingerbread (2.3) found on the Nexus S. This is combined with HTC´s Sense user interface that is common on HTC´s top touchscreen handsets such as the Desire and the Desire HD.

Aside from excellent Facebook support the Salsa features other fantastic messaging options including threaded SMS and instant messaging clients including Facebook Chat. While many phones today come with Facebook support in one form or another Facebook Chat is a bit harder to come by. With FB Chat you can easily type away to your friends from the comfort of your own phone.

With 32GB of microSD cards supported the Salsa provides you with plenty of room for entertainment, including music or video. The Salsa also comes with Wi-Fi and 3G connections so that you can also stay online wherever you may be, to update your status, upload a photo or just kill some time.
