HTC Sensation XE Preview

The Sensation XE is the first phone to result from HTC´s Beats Audio partnership. The phone is a modification of the popular flagship Sensation Android phone with some extra music features thrown in for good measure. These music features are not the only changes as there have also been upgrades to the phone´s hardware too.

The Sensation XE comes with some Beats by Dr Dre headphones which when inserted will load the custom Beats by Dr Dre sound profile. The Sensation XE also benefits from additional audio processing hardware not found on the original and various other musical perks in the software department too such as the ability to compress data for more efficient media playback. The headphones also come with an inbuilt remote control allowing you to change tracks and answer calls without digging your phone out of your pocket.

Once of the biggest changes to the hardware is the fact that the Sensation now runs on a dual core 1.5GHz processor. This processor is noticeably faster than the 1GHz dual core chip found on the original Sensation. The Sensation XE also comes with a more powerful battery, with the 1730 mAh battery providing quite a bit more talk time than the 1520 mAh battery of the original.

Many other hardware features of the Sensation XE remain the same as the original: a 4.3 inch qHD Super LCD screen, 8 megapixel camera 768MB RAM. Like the standard Sensation the XE runs on Android Gingerbread with HTC Sense and as such comes with the usual features you would expect including Android Market, social networking and YouTube support.

Physically the XE looks very similar to the Sensation but does have some differences. The Android soft keys on the front (Home, Back, Menu and Search) now come with a red backlight and this red lighting effect is also placed in other areas. The phone comes with either 8GB or 16GB microSD cards for you to place your music on.
