HTC 7 Trophy deals & review

Released to coincide with the official unveiling of Windows Phone 7, the Trophy is one of the first batch of HTC phones to feature the updated Microsoft mobile OS. Appearing alongside the HD7, 7 Pro and 7 Mozart, the Trophy comes with great social networking features, a speedy processor and high quality camera as well as Xbox LIVE integration.

With Xbox LIVE there are a number of great games to enjoy on the Trophy, with titles such as Guitar Hero, Star Wars, Halo: Waypoint and Crackdown all being available with Windows Phone 7´s release, and many more games in development. Over 60 games are available at launch and Microsoft promises that at least one new game will become available each week from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

The Trophy´s 3.8" Super LCD is ideal for tapping away at these games and with WVGA graphics and 16 million colours they are shown off in all their glory. The screen also uses capacitive technology allowing for multitouch input, not just for games but on the interface and other apps as well. The in-built accelerometer can be used for auto-rotating the interface and can be used as an additional input device for games.

While the Trophy is an excellent device for gaming thanks to its inclusion of Xbox LIVE it also has many other great features to shout about. The 5 megapixel camera captures superb quality photos, with face detection, geotagging and an LED flash all present. The camera can also capture beautiful 720p HD videos for you to play back again and again to remember those special moments. However, there is no secondary camera included so video calls are not an option here.

The Trophy´s internal memory is an impressive 8GB which is room for a great deal of music or video to enjoy on the media player. The media player comes with an excellent amount of compatibility for the most popular music and video formats. However there is no microSD card slot which means that 8GB really is the upper limit in terms of storage. This seems a shame for a phone that has so many great gaming, music and video features that may warrant extra storage space.

The Trophy is quad band GSM enabled and features Dolby Mobile and SRS sound enhancement for improved call quality. There is also 3G and Wi-Fi available, as well as GPRS and EDGE for additional connectivity. Bluetooth and microUSB provide additional means for transferring files to and from the Trophy. The phone runs on a very snappy 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 512MB RAM and 3D acceleration making even the most intensive Xbox LIVE games run smoothly without a hitch.

The Trophy is an excellent phone for gaming, messaging or just general entertainment features. There is an excellent camera on board with HD video support and a beautiful top of the line Super LCD screen shows of software content to all its glory. The Trophy truly lives up to its name and is only really let down by the non-expandable memory.
