The LG Pure is a fairly basic handset that would not have looked out of place 4 or 5 years ago. There are a number of features present that would have made the phone stand out from the crowd in 2006 but are now becoming more and more common features for a phone.
The Pure offers a comfortable design that has not been seen on new releases for some time as the world of phones has become increasingly dominated by touchscreen handsets. The sliding design was highly popular in the pre-full-frontal phones and there is no reason why it should be any less adored now. One of the benefits of this type of design that is not shared by others, including touchscreens, is that it prevents your phone from inadvertently phoning people in your contacts list while in your pocket.
The phone runs on the Pure UI which has been developed specifically for this phone. The interface is fairly basic but because of this is also extremely simple to use. The interface can be navigated using the 5-way keypad beneath the screen, and slide the phone up and you reveal the numerical keypad lying underneath.
The Pure features a rather nice 5 megapixel camera which includes autofocus and can also record high resolution video. The 2.4" LCD screen is perhaps a bit too small to enjoy your recorded moments, but these can be transferred over to your computer using USB. Operating on all GSM bands the phone can be used in any country, and also has more modern 3G data connections available to it.
This can be put to good use with the web browser which supports WAP and HTML but is perhaps again restricted by the size of the screen. The Pure does offer excellent messaging features including push email and instant messaging, along with the more standard SMS and MMS.
You can listen to your favourite music on the Pure, either by copying it over or just tuning into your local radio station with the FM radio. Through microSD cards you can be provided with about 16GB of storage space which is plenty of room to store quite a large collection of music.
While the Pure has some great features the overall feel of the phone is fairly basic. It does offer a tried and tested design that has been sorely missed these last few years and is an excellent phone for those still content with phone calls and text messages.
