With Samsung now getting better sales due to its Android smartphones, archrival LG Electronics has shown signs that it won’t come up empty-handed in its bid for a slice of the Android market pie.
Simplify the overload
LG Electronics recently introduced the LG Optimus Chic, along with Optimus One, which will form the first two installments in the company’s upcoming LG Optimus Series. The series is a line of groundbreaking smart phones and tablets equipped with the cutting edge mobile technology which will thrust the company’s latest campaign to demonstrate their capability to simplify the user’s info-overloaded lives.
LG is heavily counting on Android powered smartphones. The company has announced the launch of both Optimus One and Optimus Chic in the UK at the second half of the year. According to LG Electronics, up to ten new smartphones will see launch before the year is over.
Optimus is a Latin word meaning “best” and this will be the standard in which this LG line will be built. The Optimus series will be comprised of mobile phones which will run on various operating systems, including Android Tablet PC’s. By offering different choices of operating systems and integrating a lot of new technology, LG prioritises user preference which is the key to getting a better foothold in the smartphone market. The upcoming smartphones like the LG Optimus Chic and tablet PC’s will range from entry level to high-end, equipped with various features to meet the users’ needs.
The two Android-powered smart devices in the LG Optimus pipeline, Optimus One with Google and Optimus Chic — will incorporate the much sought-after Android Operating System 2.2 (Froyo).
Optimus Chic Smartphone
The Optimus Chic smartphone will cater to both fashionistas and mobile phone aficionados with its sophisticated craftsmanship combining soft and smooth lines. The Chic’s streamlined frame sets raises the bar for mobile phone design, and dares to challenge the general view that modern Android smartphones must appeal only to the diehard techie consumers to attain a high degree of success.
Apart from the LG Optimus Chic and other upcoming smartphones, LG will also introduce its first ever Android tablet PC later this year. Powered by the Android OS, the tablet will perform better than similar devices on the market today while coming in a thinner and lighter design.
High hopes and expectations
The Optimus Chic will ship with a candybar form factor. It is safe to assume that, due to its large display, it will have a touchscreen interface. It wouldn’t help at all if it came with a high image resolution, a bright LED screen, a versatile media player and support for social networking sites. It is also highly expected that it will come equipped with a respectable digital camera and Wi-Fi connectivity which all the latest smartphones have today. However, these are only speculations coupled with some wishful thinking based on LGs announcement of their soon-to-be-released devices.
While it’s definite that the LG Optimus Chic will be released in the UK as soon as it comes out, its pricing, availability, as well as complete features and specifications have yet to be announced.
