LG Optimus Me P350 deals & review

The Optimus Me is an affordable addition to LG´s highly popular Optimus range of phones that includes the likes of the illustrious Tegra 2 powered Optimus 2X and the ultra-slim Optimus Black. With the Optimus Me LG took the unusual approach of unveiling it to the world via Facebook, with a dedicated page revealing some teaser information. In terms of hardware and software features the Optimus Me is a bit of a step down from other phones in the series, but this is reflected in the Optimus Me´s status as an affordable Android handset. The LG Optimus Me is also known as the LG Pecan in some markets.

The LG Optimus Me is available in a variety of different colours and is aimed more at the younger generation of phone users on a budget. The Optimus Me runs on Google Android 2.2 (Froyo) that features excellent messaging options as well as integration for social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Threaded SMS is supported, as well as MMS, instant messaging clients such as Google Talk and push email accounts like Gmail. With HSDPA (3G) and Wi-Fi both available the Optimus Me is an excellent handset for all forms of messaging, including through social networks, as well as other online activities.

As the Optimus Me comes with Google´s operating system it comes with a number of great Google services supported, including YouTube. This allows you to enjoy streaming videos from online and you can also enjoy videos that you have transferred to the handset from your home computer, either via USB or Bluetooth, as the Optimus Me comes with a media player with excellent support. A wide range of music is also supported and the Optimus Me even comes with an FM radio with RDS.

You can even enjoy videos of your own making as the Optimus Me´s 3.25 megapixel camera comes with VGA video recording at 24fps. While this camera is not the greatest available on mobile phones, with many phone cameras now supporting high frame rate HD video recording, it is still perfectly adequate for everyday use and comes with a number of bonus features such as geo-tagging and autofocus.

The Optimus Me comes with a 2.8" capacitive TFT touchscreen which is a little more compact than most touchscreens on the market today. This gives the Optimus Me a more pocketable form factor overall but is perhaps not as well suited for enjoying video content as much as larger touchscreen handsets. With touchscreen phones there is always a trade-off between pocketability and visual prowess. However, videos can still be enjoyed on this phone and with microSD cards the Optimus Me can provide just over 32GB of storage space for video content.
