A bold touchscreen phone that lets you communicate your way, the LG T310 Cookie Style is vibrant, capable and fun.

The Design

The LG T310 Cookie Style has the “boldest design” according to LG, with its rounded edges and trio of keys beneath the screen. You can select from a variety of colour choices, and these keys are a different colour to the main frame to ensure they stand out and help make the whole phone stand out from the crowd.

The shape and size is similar to the Samsung S3650, which also has a 2.8 inch screen. However, the Samsung phone features a capacitive screen whereas this one is resistive so you’ll need to make confident finger gestures to open apps or web links. The screen is the same as on the LG T320 Cookie 3G handset and bigger than the 2.4 inch screen on the LG T300 Cookie device.

Like the T300, the T310 is a compact device that weighs less than 90g. This makes using and carrying the phone with you, effortless. While this isn’t likely the sole reason for selecting a handset, affordable phones also being pocket-friendly has its advantages. Created for the young user, style is naturally important and LG has made this Cookie both distinctive and traditional smartphone in its appearance – it is rounded but the two tones make it different.

Specifications

With a name that includes “style” you may think this handset is all about the exterior. And while this is true to a certain extent – the large touchscreen, bright colour combinations etc – there is still plenty to say about the phone’s interior. Featuring the same Cartoon UI as the T300, the LG T310 Cookie Style makes navigating and operating the phone enjoyable.

Communication is key and various methods are supported on this device, including instant messaging, email and MMS. Social networking abilities are also included so you can chat online on sites like Facebook on the T310. If you enjoy sharing, you’ll likely make use of the phone’s 2-megapixel camera and video. Fairly basic and lacking the bells and whistles of phone cameras that high-end devices such as the Nokia N8 boasts, the mere inclusion of a snapper on a phone this inexpensive is a nice touch. You can take fun shots and capture moments with friends on this phone, and opt to share using Bluetooth or online.

Music also features on the LG T310 Cookie Style and there is a 3.5mm audio jack inbuilt into the frame. As well as an MP3 player, there is an FM radio for listening to programmes as well as tracks. And for transferring music, there is the microUSB port so you can connect the phone up to your PC. The internal memory is boosted by the microSD card slot which can hold up to 4GB of songs, footage and data.

Considerations

On a handset like this one, connectivity is not supported by 3G, so browsing online will not be super reliable or rapid.

Verdict

For a stylish handset and cheap price, the LG T310 Cookie Style is worth considering – especially if messaging and social networking are important mobile phone features. The onscreen QWERTY supports typing and there are plenty of features to keep you in touch and entertained on the move.
