Why compare with us?

When LG released their off-the-cuff affordable touchscreen handset the KP500 Cookie back in 2008 little did they know that it would go on to be one of the biggest selling touchscreen phones in existence. Because of this surprise success LG has since released a whole range of Cookie spin-off handsets and the latest, the Cookie Wi-Fi, brings its own interpretation to the table.

The Cookie Wi-Fi has a similar physical form to the earlier T310 Cookie Style, with a more rounded appearance than the original KP500 Cookie. In fact, it would be fair to say that the Cookie Style and Cookie Wi-Fi are virtually identical – with one slight difference. As the name would suggest the Cookie Wi-Fi comes with Wi-Fi support, a feature that was sorely missed on the Cookie Style.

The two other main differences from the Style are an updated version of Bluetooth (2.2 from the Style´s 2.1) and higher quality video recording with the phone´s camera. Other than this the specifications are the same. The Cookie Wi-Fi still uses a bright 2.8" resistive TFT touchscreen with sharp 240 x 320 screen resolution and 256k colour depth, and fans of the Cookie series will be glad to see the Cartoon UI in place. The interface is pretty straightforward to use and comes with handwriting recognition and social networking integration.

There is a 2 megapixel camera with QVGA video recording available at 15fps, although not many additional features. This is up from the Cookie Style´s QCIF video recording. There is 20MB of internal storage on the Cookie Wi-Fi and this can be augmented with up to 4GB of microSD cards providing a fair amount of room for personal content. The Cookie Wi-Fi comes with a good video and music player as well as an FM radio for keeping up to date with the latest tunes.

The addition of Wi-Fi makes the Cookie Wi-Fi much more suitable for online activities compared to its earlier Style counterpart, and the Cookie Wi-Fi does not disappoint with great web browsing, social networking and email and instant messaging options available. There are also standard SMS and MMS messages available of course, making the Cookie Wi-Fi and excellent choice for a messaging phone. Despite the addition of Wi-Fi the Cookie Wi-Fi unfortunately does not come with 3G support.
